Excellent performance all the way around. We needed this one in a major way. Good confidence builder going into the Louisville game.

Agreed
I have been able to watch the entire game on Sports South. I realize FIU is not good at all but we are going to beat by a significantly larger margin than did miami or purdue, both of which have good teams. NO I am not saying we want to be compared to these two schools but man there is some improvement over the SD game. If we can continue this play things may just start looking up. And oh ya BG has had a high five and several pats on the back

I see the big difference as Jasper and Meeks. With them out, we have been short on scoring, defense, ball handling, passing, etc.

Great game today guys, made better decisions, took better shots, just everything was a good effort today. I don't care if it was a Sun-Belt team, we came to play and we executed. My hats off to D-Jas, he has overcome alot and he gives it his all each time on the floor.

Way to go Cats!!!

Let's just hope these players realize that from this point on, every game, every possesion, every minute, every second is do or die based on the hole that they have dug themselves into up to this point of the season. They have to stay focused and play like there's no tomorrow.

To me, this was the first game of the new season, i.e., our first game at full strength. With Jasper and Meeks in the lineup, we now have a genuine outside theat (Meeks) and someone who can feed the post (Jasper). Just their presence takes the pressure off Patterson and at the same time will open things up more on the inside.

We are not going to have a great season, but it will be far better than what I've been reading for the last few days. We're gonna be OK.

My thoughts? Since you asked,

Everyone bow down and kiss my butt for my praise of Jasper since he was in high school! :icon_biggrin:

After seeing today's game, I think Jasper might be the second most important player on our team, behind Patterson. If he can keep get healthier ( = quicker and better stamina) he will be huge for us this year.

Perhaps you might suggest an alternate way for fans to reward you for your insight?

consistency will be key for us

I always thought we had the potential to be a poor man's 2005 Illinois (in terms of the similarities of our "best 5" to their starting 5). Specifically, Dee Brown, Deron Williams, Luther Head, James Augustine, and Roger Powell compared to Jasper, Meeks, Bradley, Crawford, and Patterson.

Both teams use 1 big man, and 1 quasi forward, along with 3 guards. The key difference is that Illinois team passed the ball collectively much better than we do and they made better decisions with the ball.

Nevertheless, on a good day (like today), I optimistically believe we can somewhat do the same.

I'm just playing around. But if you're offering, I'll take an eagle rare, neat.
