FT shooting. I dont recall seeing such a good FT shooting team at UK in a while. I was shocked to hear we have the best FT % of SEC teams so far.

With Meeks back, our FT % will probably continue to rise. He is money.

A big key to this is Patterson's FT shooting.

Superb.

Patterson, Bradley and Meeks are rock solid. Crawford is also pretty consistent. Jasper must improve his free throws. That was teh only negative I saw yesterday.

Jasper was hopefully just a bit rusty. It was clear that coach G was trying to get him some reps at the FT line. He probably hasn't practice FT's that much while trying to get back into good shape. I just hope he does improve so we don't have the problem of our best ballhandler being a bad FT shooter like we had with Rondo. That sometimes turned into a problem near the end of close games.

I've been pleased by this, too. Could never understand how teams the last number of years shot so poorly from the line. We lost a number of games by our poor FT shooting ability.

Again, not Tubby bashing, but over the past years, UK has always been at the bottom 3rd of the conference in free throw shooting.....I wonder what changed now as we lead the SEC? Players in better shape....I guarantee you that this is at least part of the reason.....

I agree, thats something that bothered me alot for the last few years, I don't like seeing players in blue and white bending over and tugging on their shorts. Thank god BCG believes in conditioning, much like that guy over in looserville used to.

That certsainly could be a big part of the reason. I think I read somewhere that they do not even shoot them in practice. Players must work on them on their own.

I bet you're right. I couldn't figure out why BCG had Jasper shooting the technical, but this makes sense. At the time, I thought Coach had lost his mind! Sometimes I'm a little dense amd need things explained to me. Thanks.

I BELIEVE CRAWFORD WAS OR IS LEADING THE TEAM IN FT %. I DONT KNOW IF HE IS NOW BUT HE WAS A COUPLE OF GAMES AGO, NO MORE MORRIS NO MORE MISSED FT. GO CATS BEAT LOOSERVILLE

I heard the same thing....Isn't it rare for a coach to leave it to the players to practice such things on their own. I can't say I've ever heard of that before.

^^
Well, I can certainly understand why. With the 20 hour practice rule, it leaves time for other things. I would do the same thing if it were me. The trainers can "rebound" for players in off practice times. I would work with the trainers to watch out for obvious flaws in the players shots, and let them work together in the off time. I would still have them shoot a few in practice during game like situations when they were winded, but do all the rep work in off hours. FTs are rep work anyway.

Along with the improved FT shooting, I notice we're not struggling mightily to inbound the ball.

I've noticed the same, I. Melvin. That is a BIG improvement. Also, I love discussing positives in a positive manner. :)
