1. LSU
2. USC
3. Georgia
4. Missouri
5. West Virginia

It's too bad LSU couldn't play a USC/Georgia winner for the national championship. Would have been a great game!

My top 5 would be:

1. Georgia
2. USC
3. LSU
4. West Virginia
5. Tennessee

Even though LSU won the "title game" the two best teams in the country right now are Georgia and USC, with Georgia getting the nod being from the SEC.

Just sharing the top 5 from the final AP poll:

1. LSU
2.Georgia
3.So. Cal.
4.Missouri
5.Ohio State

Also, West Virginia and Kansas follow those top 5 in the final AP poll.

Anyway, as I look at that final poll, I notice that ALL of the teams in the top 5 have TWO losses. FOUR teams in the top 10 have THREE losses. THREE teams in the top 15 have FOUR losses. That's unreal.

Too, folks, I'm only sharing those almost unbelievable stats to make it more obvious HOW WELL the Cats performed this season, even with their FIVE losses. We all know (and most everyone agrees) that the Cats played in not only the toughest conference in the nation, but also within the toughest division. Still again, I say that I am PROUD of our Cats, and I do not intend to hijack the thread with this last paragraph--I just can't help myself for sharing those stats for other Cat fans to read!!! :):):icon_mrgreen:

Now, back to who folks think SHOULD be in that top 5.

1. LSU
- Two losses in overtime which no one will tell me is different than losing in regulation. (I detest college overtime, even though it benefited Kentucky this year.)

2. USC
- The Stanford loss keeps me from ever thinking they we're #1 this year however, if the Stanford kid doesn't make the incredible catch then they woul d have been in New Orleans destroying Ohio State.

3. West Virginia
- This is the team we were supposed to see all year long if they had been healthy (against Oklahoma).

4. Georgia
- Front runners for the SEC in 2008.

5. Oklahoma
- Beat Missouri twice who beat Kansas so even though they lost I would have to put the Sooners above the other two teams from the Big XII.

3. Southern Cal
4. West Virginia
5t. Florida
5t. Oklahoma
6. Missouri

LSU: best team in the country. Period.

Georgia: playing great football at the end of the season - good enough to beat anyone in the nation with the exception of . . . LSU.

Southern Cal: good, but overrated by many. They lost to a rotten Stanford team. They played a cupcake in a bowl, a team that had no business being there.

West Virginia: I hate to say it because the Big East is so overrated, but this was an excellent team.

Florida: turned in their absolute worst performance of the past two years in that bowl game. On most weeks the Gators whip just about any team in the nation.

Oklahoma: I rank them this high not just due to their record, but due also to the fact that they won, twice and convincingly, against . . .

Missouri - a very good team, as proven against Kansas (who had no business getting to the BCS ahead of Missouri) and Arkansas.
