A friend of mine (an OSU fan) and I were talking today and I cannot remember for the life of me... but did that little running back (can't event think of his name) play against UK? I seem to only remember Hester and Scott running the ball against us...

I am pretty sure Holiday played against us, but I do not think he did much.

I believe Holliday is the name you're looking for and, if I'm not mistaken, he did play in our game with them.

What a great recruiting tool to build for the future. You want to compete? Lookit this! You want a chance to play? Tou want a chance to be in the best conference in the country? You want to play against
the best and see what you can do?
This could be the season that finally, finally, finally puts Kentucky in the
position of being competitive.

We beat #1 Oklahoma (National Champions) in the 1951 Sugar Bowl.

Yes, but that happened more than half of a century ago, so it doesn't count! ;) Seriously, I, too, am SO PROUD of our Kentucky Wildcats. :)

Winning the back-to-back bowls was something else that had not been accomplished in over half of a century of UK football. Further, this team beat two teams ranked in the top ten when we had played, something that also had not been accomplished in many decades.

Unfortunately, these guys did not make the top 25 coaches's poll. Our final record with the FIVE losses kept us from doing that. YET, I noticed that TEN teams in that poll had FOUR losses, and two of those teams were still ranked among the top 15 (and UT was one of those at #12--how painful, besides costly, is that loss which would have been a win with any ONE out of so many different plays). We were that close to something even more special.

As RV posted today, though, the Sagarin rankings that show how teams actually competed, a ranking system that considers the quality of opponents' play and not merely the number of wins and losses, put UK at #18 in the country. :) I have NO DOUBT that these Cats were indeed one of the top 25 teams in the country, and, YES, I, too, am PROUD. :)
