We are getting the type of play we expected from the other guys but I think Perry is such a bonus his play tonight was the key IMHO.

Earlier in the year there was a post as to which player would benefit most from Billy G....I think it is Perry, he has been playing his best basketball these last couple of games, I mean he has been dunking all over people

Perry's play just means Varnado is long forgotten on Tuesday, Jan. 21st. Oh btw, player of the game honors for P.S. tonight on the post game show.

If Perry can keep this up, we might fool some people this year. It's starting to look good out there. Perry might just be the missing link.

Coach Billy G said Perry is a maturing sophomore. His biggest change is that he has become more aggressive. He is a very intelligent player. AS POG, Perry told Mike Pratt: We are starting to show our coach's toughness. I love it!

TN would back door anybody but Perry's five blocks, Patrick's three blocks and Jasper's one set back their strong inside game.

Go Cats!

I think Jasper is the key. Without him this team just doesn't get it done. Maybe when Meeks gets full strength the team can hinge on him some, but right now, Jasper quietly improves the whole team.

There is nothing standing in the way of Stevenson being our Vanardo. In fact, Perry is better than that guy. I look forward to a rematch between those two.

I'm able glad when Stevenson is in the game with Patterson because it means another scoring threat. These two could potentially be a very good big man combo: if teams try to double Patterson, then Stevenson is probably open somewhere to dish it to, and if teams try to guard Patterson without a double, then let the beast do his work down low.

Stevenson seems to making great strides in fixing his offensive game with setting good picks, making some good moves and the ability to get open. Stevenson just needs to work on his hands some more (though tonight he proved that he can catch the ball) and being strong with a ball on top of the key and when he's taking it in down low.

I really like this guy and hardly anything makes me happier than seeing a player striving to become better.

The two man game is coming along as both PPat and PS can hit the short jumper. They both get into trouble if they go beyond the FT line but both can hit from 14' in. The passing in and out of the lane seems to be improving as well.

Perry and Patrick IMHO are developing a passing chemistry...they both played their hearts out...I was suprised to see Perry only had two assists...it looked like more to me.

37 minutes is the most astounding stat on that line! It shows he's learning and maturing as a player. I think he will be a force next season and may be the rest of this one.

Here's to hoping he becomes a force for the rest of this season. Teams double & tripling on Patterson will have to rethink that strategy with Perry in the game judging by the passing those two were doing for each other. Perry getting PT can only be a positive for the Cats.

And if you look at the box score, Perry's 37 minutes = only 3 minutes for Coury who didn't see the court in the 2nd half...life is as it should be. I guess BCG decided he actually wanted to win a game.

And speaking of BCG, did you see how happy he was for the players at the end of the game? I think that was an awesome scene.

Perry, was the major individual key. THAT was by far the best I have seen from him.
I thought the entire team played much smarter and that was the over all key.

I was afraid the the attacking Vols would year these kids apart, but they held together and took care of business.

If I were any more proud, I would bust..

I loved Perry's game last night, and I beleive that he will only benefit more with increased attention to Patterson. Kudos to Patterson for having the ability to assist Perry; hopefully we will watch those two play together for a while.

I have noticed this the last few games as well. A couple times last night it reminded me of a couple guys named hayes and daniels. They had an uncanny feel for where the other was. Given some time, I think these two may get somewhere close.

If Perry would just compose himself (all the time) he would be great asset.

He has enough athletic ability. I like the way he handles himself down under the rim. He just doesn't go up for a shot to get it blocked. (ala Coury)

I would say that Stevenson should be starting but I guess BCG want's to have a spark of the bench. And maybe he wouldn't be comfortable in the role.

PS should be starting over Coury... no questions asked. Coury isn't exactly the model of comfort and stability.

No.

He def. isn't.

But there has to be a method to Gillispie's madness. :shrug1:

I guess so, but why put one of the lessser talents in for only three minutes before bringing in the better-abled athlete?

Even still, if we win, I could care less who he runs out there.

I agree. Why put him in for the first 3 minutes and then not play him again?

I've been on Coury all year and never understood why he started but I've given up trying to question the Coach.

We'll know the answer to the Stevenson-Starting Question on Saturday.

Last night was Perry Stevenson's best game as a Wildcat. I've been pumping this guy up since DAY ONE. He's a player and a key to our success, no question. Stevenson is a young sophomore and finally getting the minutes to match his growth.

I think we've found our second big man.

I have no problem with Coury starting, if coach is still rewarding good practice players with the start. As long as he doesnt see more than 4-5 minutes a game I am fine with that. Plus, like someone else mentioned, we have a spark off the bench which we sorely needed.

For all the talk about how there's no talent on this team, with the continued improvement of Harris (who's still not an offensive threat but plays solid defense and rebounds well for a wing) and Stevenson and Jasper and Meeks returning from injuries, Gillispie has a pretty good 7-man rotation of Bradley, Crawford, Meeks, Stevenson, Patterson, Harris, and Jasper.

Fantastic results. If Perry can continue his great play, UK will really make some noise February and March.

He looks to do the smart things and I like how he attacks the rim, I just wish other bench players would do the same, and I like what Harris did even though he missed the dunk
