We won, but I still think the officiating was absolutely terrible.

Patrick's third & fourth foul.
The intentional foul called on Jasper was mind boggling.
3-5 uncalled walks on UT.

It was interesting that there were no palming calls in this game. I seriously doubt the players all the sudden stopped palming.

I am happy we won, but the officiating crews have got to do a better job.

Officials: Tim Higgins, Ed Corbett, J.B. Caldwell

I thought it was odd that no palming calls were made too. Especially with 2 teams so guard heavy, it's bound to get called at least once.

I'm beginning to just accept poor officiating in conference play. That intentional was borderline criminal. What do you expect with a crew that includes Higgins though?

You're right about the intentional foul call. There was one call they missed on UT, i cant remember who did it but he did a weird looking jump stop that look like a walk

I know no one wants to hear this right after a huge win like this, but I'm telling you guys the (poor) officiating tonight worked in our favor more often than not.

We came up with those blocks and rebounds under TN's basket with a little more contact than I thought we could get away with. I thought we were lucky to have both PP and PS in there at the end of the game. I am guessing that the TN board is talking about how KY was ugly under the basket. Sure hate to see some of the obvious crap calls though, and thought that one of Derrick was a bad one particularly when he had as much of the ball as he did.

On the other hand that call on Jasper did yield an entertaining moment shortly thereafter when Gillespie baited the refs with his demonstration of the "deliberate" foul call, right after TN held us under the basket. I think they got the message.

I still remember that old drunk Higgins blowing the '97 title game. Arizona makes no field goals in OT, but wins the game. He even later admitted he messed up. But he is still doing UK games.

SEC officiating seems to be down this year, and I'm not just talking about calls that should've been made in Kentucky's favor.

That was very funny...I'm glad the ESPN camera crew caught that! CBG

The officials are such showboats! Can't just make a call; they have to run out where all can see and break into interpretive dance. There was at least a minute or two wasted with one of them requiring our guy (Bradley, I think) to take the ball out in the middle of the cheerleading section. Weird stuff.

Refs were terible for us particularly in the first half, and I thought they were just bad in the 2nd half. Gillispie got his shots in without getting T'ed up. With his personality, his intentional foul call demonstration was pretty funny. Regardless of the officiating, we won this game through focus and intensity. We wanted it most and we took it. Ramel had the game of a true senior, and his free-throws are quite telling of that maturation.

The int. foul call on Jasper was complete bs, even the espn guys thought so.

The better team on the night won, so I'm not gonna say too much about it.
But I will make one observation. Did anyone else think that some of the foul calls on UT actually hurt UK more than helped? 2 Pat would be set up to receive the pass, the ball would be in the air, and the whistle would blow. 2 Pat would have an open lane to the hoop but it would then be a dead ball foul on UT. Several time it was before the one and one and UK would have to start over. I saw, like, five of those last night...

I'm not saying they were bad calls. It was just the timing of it all.

SEC 75 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE. Except for our officiating crews.

I know what you're talking about. I'm looking forward to Lighthouse's officiating report.

yeah - that was hilarious, but he had a good point. YOu can't accidently hold someone's jersey. I like this guy more and more everyday

I screamed at Higgins all night.

He wanted to lecture the players every time they took the ball out of bounds. He had at least 10 discussions with various players, including a dead ball one time that took at least 30 seconds and got his butt booed by the entire arena. He also lectured free throw shooters on their shirts (Patterson's shirt tail was tucked in a tone point, but he had a little poof on the side -- can't have that), had a strange conversation with Gillispie before the game began, and generally made it a point to stop the flow of the game to assert himself into the action.

Man, Bruce Pearl was getting on my nerves, every second the camera looked at him he would smile then stomp and scream and one time I thought he was going to belt his players and with that stupid looking orange jacket of him flopping around was just annoying and then the haltime interview, jeeze

I was wondering why Patterson made such a point to tuck in his shirt at the foul line at one point. I didn't see the lecture about the shirt.

I agree that I don't see what was intentional about Jasper's foul in the first half. He was going for the ball--it was just waaaaay out of his reach.
