Just posted that UK will begin adding signees on the above linked web site at 11 am. Why so late? Also, Boyd is suppose to announce his team at 10:30 am. Is there any link to news conference?

I have been looking on the local Lexington News Station websites but nothing I can find yet.

Just a rumor but word out that Boyd inked his LOI to UK. I am not sure if that is reliable information since it came from the free board on the TCP site.

I'm tuned into WLAP online, Coldstream, just in case. I would love to hear Shane--oops, Aaron--:icon_mrgreen: commit to the Cats while I'm reading here. :)

Thanks for the info, Coldstream. I will wait until its official before I get excited, though, as I too question some info on that board!

Kentucky (http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/school?schoolId=96)

Signing day storylines: The Wildcats created an early national buzz this fall and finished strong with a win over Florida State in the Music City Bowl. Despite back-to-back winning seasons and consecutive bowl victories, there is not a lot of excitement for Rich Brooks heading into signing day. The Wildcats currently lack an ESPN 150 prospect for the first time in three years, and with three weeks to go before signing day, their committed class is not comprised of any players rated in the top 25 at their respective positions. Kentucky does have a shot at No. 1-rated in-state prospect, wide receiver Aaron Boyd (http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=50095) (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay), a tall, much needed playmaker right out of Lexington. Boyd would be a huge pickup considering the Wildcats will be low on receiver depth in 2008 and they have already lost out on the remaining top-six in-state talents, not a good sign for a program trying to turn the corner in a difficult conference.
Top prospect: Defensive end Donte Rumph (http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=47162) (Saint Matthews, S.C./Calhoun) is a versatile prospect with a fine blend of size, strength and quickness off the line. A solid defensive lineman at this point with a good base and strong hand technique, but he will need continued physical development, improved explosiveness and refined pass rushing technique to make an impact in Lexington.
Class highlights: Along with Rumph, Kentucky has another talented defensive player locked up for 2008. There is some depth at corner but we felt the Wildcats needed to recruit a prospect who could compete and match up against the strong SEC receiver talent. Cartier Rice (http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=52482) (Duncan, S.C./James Byrnes) could be that guy. Lack of height will hurt him, but he is well-versed in a variety of coverages showing the tools to play press, mirror in off coverage or turn and stick to the hip in man.
On offense, Deaunte Mason (http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=51168) (Nashville, Tenn./Pearl-Cohn) is a legit dual-threat quarterback who could blossom in this spread system with his playmaker, Andre Woodson-type qualities.
Could see the field in 2008: Rice.

Matt Smith and Osaze Idumwonyi are both listed as OL/DL and Taylor Wyndham is listed as LB/DL, so it looks like we have the DL covered anyway.

your great work Coldstream, but I don't think we are trying to make Aaron an Offensive lineman...are we? LOL

Just a heads-up. Spectacular as always!!

Thanks, 97

Three important names are missing. One is dual-threat quarterback Deaunte Mason (who has been most praised as a leader, besides as a player), and another is his teammate out of Nashville, linebacker William Johnson. The third is highly touted quarterback/possible wide receiver Randall Cobb, whom Fulmer had tried to sway in the direction of the Vols. Yes, I'm wanting to see those names added to the list SOON. I will THEN breathe a sigh of relief.

Was Alcoa, TN effected by the tornadoes yesterday ? I know around the Nashville area they were hit pretty hard.

Cobb is signing at 1PM EST from what I understand. The other should be onboard later today.

We had severe thunderstorms this morning, but no tornadic activity. I heard here in Knoxville that Cobb was going to sign this afternoon at Alcoa HS.

Thanks, guys. Too, I had wondered if the severe storm activity in Tennessee had had anything to do with the delay.

Further, while checking here in regard to recruits, my mind keeps going to the families who lost loved ones in the tornadoes last evening :icon_cry: (and to so many more who lost their homes and belongings). Sports are quickly put in the proper perspective. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those families. May God give them strength.

Now back to our "escape," college football recruiting. (I apologize for having interrupted the thread, but with the discussion of those tornadoes, I could not omit expressing sympathy, and I feel sure everyone reading and posting here feels the similar emotions.)
