The last two games I've watched seemed to have bad pictures and sound. Is this just my new TV or did anyone else see it too?
I'm new to HD so I'm wondering if it is me.

In the brief period of time where the picture wasn't pixelated or choppy it looked good.

I typically have trouble with CBS HD broadcasts...Fox seems to have the best. So I don't think it was your TV since I had the same issue (unless both our HD TV's are bad ):icon_cry:

Mine was only pixelated a bit. Usually this is a problem with your cable provider. They compress the image and if it's pixelated, that usually means they don't have enough bandwidth to your house. If you are watching over the air High Def (with an antenna and not with cable or satellite), then you could certainly isolate the problem to CBS.

I was watching in Frankfort and pulling in channel 32 in Louisville....at first, they put the darn UConn game on....then switched to UK.....HD did not kick in until about 10 min left in 1st half.....frustrating....it popped in and out most of the game. Your TV is fine.

I have Direct Tv and when I tuned to the HD version of channel 32, it was UCONN Vs PITT game?? I had to watch the Uk game on the non HD 32 channel, which sucked. I couldn't tell the difference between Jasper and Porter.

I have DirecTV HD and I was having some frustrating problems too. My brief experience is that CBS HD is awful, especially for basketball games.

Same thing from here with Dish Network. I actually called them thinking it was my dish.

My experience was different. CBS didn't switch to the UK game until the end of UConn/Pitt, so I watched it on CSTV on my computer. Now THAT was a miserable experience and a waste of ten bucks.
But the games on CBS were clear, free of pixilation, and the HD was first-rate. I get mine on Comcast and have had few issues with pixilation on any of the HD channels. If this happens a lot, it's got to be a bandwidth issue and you should take it up with your provider.

I have Direct TV. I didn't know there was an HD equivalent to Channel 32.
Are you talking about the CBS regional feed or the signal coming out of Louisville?

HD on cbs is basically nonexistent. The only true Hd I have seen is from ESPN. I can make out the faces in the crowd on ESPN compared to CBS where I didnt know for sure who Porter was for a few minutes.

I wonder if it's CBS or Insight? Whichever, it was bad.

It's channel 32-1 on my receiver. And on that channel it was the UCONN game, so I guess it was the CBS Regional HD coverage? Dunno. I just know I couldn't get the game in HD.

It's true that there are variations in HD quality, depending on the network. IMO, Discovery Theater is the gold standard for HD, but CBS shouldn't be that bad. Mine really was fine--not Discovery quality--but equally as good as ESPN and ABC--I sneaked a few peeks at the Duke/Miami game on the latter.
Watched the FBR Open on CBS after the game and the HD was quite good for that, as well. On mine, you see the individual crowd faces on #16 with no problem.

WTVF HD Channel 5 out of Nashville was OK, some occasional bad spots. However, what was up with the official scorers table flashing signs when Kentucky had the ball? Was Austin Powers in charge? That psychadelic (sp) light flashing was annoying as hell to us viewers and probably the team. Anyone else notice this?

I saw the first half at my brother's house on his HD, which is Dishnetwork. It was a terrible picture, and choppy. I saw the second half at my apartment, on Comcast HD, and the picture was great. But my tv has a better picture anyway...:icon_mrgreen:

PLUS, we missed the start of the game in Lou. Seems they thought we wanted to see a Big Least game instead. I was on the phone ready to pounce when they finally figured it out.

I went to the game then came home to watch it in HD. Parts were great but it kept flipping out of HD to regular. This happens to me all the time on CBS. I first noticed it on the David Letterman show...only about half the show ends up being in HD. :thumbdn: No problems on other channels.
