Cats take some hits in bid to shore up 'D'.

With national signing day on Wednesday, the University of Kentucky has been trying to put the final touches on its 2008 recruiting class.

The Wildcats have 18 oral commitments to date, and have been trying to use their last few available scholarships for help on defense and at wide receiver.

Their quest for defensive help took a couple of blows last week as one of their highest-regarded prospects, Mobile, Ala., three-star defensive end Willie Bohannon, backed out of his UK commitment and switched to Tennessee.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Bohannon was listed as one the nation's five "Super Sleepers" for the 2008 class by Rivals.com and was named as a player who could have a major impact at UT as a true freshman.

But the Cats still have some things brewing. They're awaiting a decision from Tenarius Wright, a 6-2, 221-pound linebacker from Memphis. Wright, who played at the same high school as UK defensive end Jeremy Jarmon, has orally committed to Arkansas but visited UK on the weekend of Jan. 11. Wright's mother said last week that her son is still considering Kentucky and won't announce his decision until signing day.
UK also is still listed among the schools in the hunt for defensive tackle Arterio Arnold, a 6-3, 270-pounder from Greenville, S.C., and Devin Taylor, a 6-6, 225-pound defensive end from Beaufort, S.C. QUOTE

If linebacker Mr. Wright were my son, I certainly know which of those two I would hope he would choose (between Coach Petrino and Coach Brooks). Also, I feel sure Jeremy Jarmon has nothing but good to say about UK and its coaches. Further, I'll also be looking for those two defensive linemen's names on Signing Day Wednesday. GO CATS!!!
