Kentucky standout pitcher Scott Green has been tabbed the 21st best prospect in college baseball, Baseball America announced in its latest college top-100 prospects, released Monday.
A Louisville, Ky., native, Green is regarded as one of the top pitchers in the college game. With Cody Satterwhite and Lance Lynn of Ole Miss leading off Southeastern Conference pitchers on the list at No. 15 and No. 19 respectively, Green ranks as the third SEC pitcher on the list at No. 21.
After coming out of high school as a highly touted, highly-coveted product from Male High School, Green stepped into the Wildcat weekend rotation as a freshman and occupied a role as a closer. After undergoing Tommy Johns surgery and redshirting during the 2006 SEC Championship season, Green returned in a limited role in 2007, pitching in nine games, hurling 17 2/3 innings, striking out 20, earning a 3.06 ERA, a 2-0 record and a save.
