Going to hoops game next Tuesday. Thought we'd eat first. Don't often eat in Lex. Go to FB games & tailgate & bit or go to Keeneland and eat after we get back home.
Coming from north. Any recos on a good meal? I'm assuming DT restaurants would be full in advance of games. Thanks.

Coming from your direction, I'd recommend the Malones in Hamburg.

Wound up eating there. Very nice. Yea, somewhat pricey, but quality was excellent from appetizer to salad, entree, dessert, & wine. One of the better & more pleasant meals I've had. I'd call it a good value.
Thanks again.

My wife and I are coming up the Saturday before the UF game to get away from the Kids and celebrate our wedding anniversary. What would be the best place to have dinner close to downtown. It has been several years since we have been to a "nice" place in Lexington. It is usually pizza, BWIII or a kid friendly Place. I saw someone mention Malones which we may do. I haven't been to DeShay's in a long time and is the Woodland Grill still open?

Woodland Grill was bought out a year or two ago, but closed in November I believe.
More upscale downtown options include Portofino, Bellini's, Dudley's, Metropol, a al Lucie, le Deauville. Can't go wrong at any of them, IMO.

Sam, this Metropol is nice and a good value. $17-35 entrees. Food was great flavor & well-presented. Nice atmosphere.

Another downtown restaurant that I'd recommend is Jonathans at Gratz Park Inn. Best Shrimp and Grits I've had, away from SC.

Any list of the best in LEX must include Merrick Inn.

A restaurant that is fairly new to Lexington is Jack & Maddy's in Chevy Chase. Tried it a few weeks ago and was really impressed.
