Hey Wildcatnation! I was wondering if anyone is planning on going down to Myrtle Beach for their Bike week? Its May 12th - 21st.

My friends and I normally go down to Daytona Beach Bike week every year but decided to change things up and try the Myrtle Beach Bike Week. From everything I've read, it seems like its going to bea great time. I've been to MB before, but never during their bike week. I've had tons of fun at Broadway at the Beach, but does anyone know of any other fun places to go while we're down there?

I'm not going, but I was in Charleston for the weekend, and saw hundreds of motorcycles on the Interstate on the way back to Lexington. Now I know why.

I thik something like 18 got killed during bike week. A few being stupid, but most were hit by cars. Said Daytona drew 500,000 people, largest crowd ever.

Go down to Murrell's Inlet for some great seafood.

I was in Myrtle Beach during bike week last year, completely by accident. Hasn't it expanded to two weeks? (Note: there is bike week(s) and black bike week, which is held the week of Memorial Day.) I lived there when bike week started, eons ago. It has grown unbelievably over the years. If you're a biker, it's got to be a blast.

If not......better wear earplugs. ;)

Gotta make a stop at Suck Bang Blow.....

I'd give you a link, but the bike week pictures on the site are a bit on the adult side...

I don't know much about the bike week but the golf at Myrtle Beach is out of this world.

Yes it was a pretty bad Bike Week in terms of fatalities. As stated earlier some were being stupid but the one that really bothered me on scene was the poor couple from Georgia who was rear-ended at a traffic light by an SUV doing close to 65 MPH. You can be a great rider (I consider myself "capable";)) but theres nothing you can do when the other driver has his head up his rear. The male passed away there on scene and the female was in critical condition. Also contributing to increase in fatalities were the fact the events were more spread out than ever before meaning riders were travelling farther between destinations. There were at least 3 that I can recall that were due to inexperienced riders who were unfamiliar with the roads and their own motorcycles. If youre interested here is the link to our local newspaper's coverage of Bike Week...

here is what Main Street looked like last Friday, the crowds grew from there...

Thanks for the info. I can't believe all of the injuries and deaths this year in Daytona, thats really sad. Being a biker myself, I hate to hear about all of those accidents. I'm hoping my trip to Myrtle Beach bike week will be a safe & fun trip.

When we went on our honeymoon to Myrtle Beach is was black biker week. Completely by accident as we didn't know.

Needless to say, we didn't get out much till later in the week.

Took us 1 1/2 hours to go 15 blocks.

I was in Myrtle Beach this past summer, with no such bike week going on, and we had about the same problem travelling those 15 blocks.

Actually, we stayed in North Myrtle Beach, which wasn't too bad. We drove down to the*real* Myrtle Beach one night.....ONE night.....didn't make that mistake again!

Mrytle Beach is great, no matter what week you can get there! If you are going to be there during bike week( and are not a biker) you must have plenty of patience.
