According to sources, UK called University Heights Academy in Hopkinsville today to check on weather. This was done in anticipation of a flight into Hoptown for representatives to view the final home game of Scotty Hopson, as well as his teammate Ty Edmondson.
It is HIGHLY speculated that one Billy Clyde will be on board and in attendance at this game.
Others expected to be here are coaches from Tennessee, Mississippi State and others.
Texas was supposed to be here, but the weather caused their flights to not cooperate.

UK will need scoring, next season. I hope they land Hopson.

Yeah, this kid could be an important piece for our future. Really hope we get him.
Let's hope the weather cooperates and Gillispie walks through that door tonight. You would HAVE to think, the way this thing has turned out, that Hopson would listen to a UK offer.

The roads are really bad here. I live 40 miles from Hopkinsville and was supposed to go to Hopkinsville to meet with a client this afternoon. He called and told me not to come because of the road conditions.

That's always a possibility.
The roads around Madisonville are terrible. They were at 6:30 this morning and got worse all day.
Was there school in Hopkinsville today?

It was bad early. But seriously, by 10AM they had pretty much cleared. It's far worse as you go north. UK actually closed the campus in Lexington at 2 today.

From what I read on the cats pause, his mother was heard saying they would deffinitely listen to any offers from UK. And said she hasn't heard from them. I know they have had several conversations with his coach though from what all the boards are saying.

Just got off the phone with one of our guys at the game.
UK has three seats reserved and UHA understands BCG is one of the ones coming for sure.
Tennessee is there, along with Georgia and Virginia Tech. They're expecting at least 10 D1 schools.
Rick Stansbury supposedly has all his kids with him.

you can be a Hopson supporter or not, but there better be a damn good reason if BCG doesn't want a McD Kentucky kid.

I don't think that will be a problem. I posted a quote from BCG on that very subject not too long ago. He said his goal was to be able to look down his bench and see 13 McDonald's All-Americans, knowing he also had 3 or 4 more coming in every year.

Unfortunately, our past decline and lack of recruiting instate has taken away that once illustrious UK offer. I believe we'll have to become a team of prosperity again along with Billy proving that he wants Kentucky boys, then we should have guys knocking on UK's doors again. that's a slight exaggeration, but there was once a time when KY boys wanted to play for KY and that was it. No other team mattered. We have to get back to that.

I hope we get serious about his recruitment and make an offer. You don't play around with hamburger kids in your backyard. Even if you have some reservation with them, you take the chance. Or perhaps an offer has been made? Who knows. BCG plays his recruiting cards close to the vest. Which is probably a good thing.

We need to make sure that we dont really believe everything Marc Maggard and others put out about the recruitment. I believe BCG has recruited him for a while and Momma Hopson doesn't want to let that cat out of the bag out of respect for MSU. I think BCG has been eyeing him for a while, but like it was said earlier BCG keeps it secret...

As the Hopson Turns (http://blog.kentuckysportsradio.com/?p=5015)

On a night where ice has overtaken the central part of Kentucky (and made people go running to the grocery for milk and bread….why do people do that by the way? Is it the case that if you are stuck in a storm, you need milk and bread more than other foods? Besides 4 year old pre-school kids, I know no-one that drinks milk in large amounts, but it is always emptied on the shelves the moment a storm is predicted), the word around UK basketball circles is of our traveling coach, Billy Clyde Gillispe. After giving the team off on Wednesday as he traveled the country to North Carolina and Illinois, Gillispie found himself in Hopkinsville tonight watcing Scotty Hopson as he poured in 37 points on Senior night to delight the UHA faithful (both of them). Gillispie joined a host of other coaches, including Rick Stansbury and Tennessee assistants, at the game as the world goes after the hottest recruit left in the continental United States. Hopson, who was recently named a McDonalds All American and a participant in the Jordan Classic, now can certainly be said to be on Kentucky’s radar as Gillispie has made multiple trips to watch the phenom play. Where Kentucky ranks on Hopson’s radar is up for debate. Those close to Scotty continue to tell me that the Cats are behind the original leaders (Miss St, Tenn, UL) but that UK can make up that ground if they express interest. It is clear that there is some interest by the fact of Gillispie’s appearance, but if it will be enough remains to be seen.
Whatever happens however, it is clear that the Scotty Hopson recruitment has been a bit bizarre. Back in the fall, I was told by someone close to the coaching staff that there was very little interest in Hopson and the Cats were happy with Miller and Liggins in that position. But over the last couple of months that has changed, and some recruiting followers insist that contact has occurred between the staff and Hopson. However the Hopsons continue to deny this and claim they have been told that Gillispie would call, only to never hear from him (a similar charge was made by Brad Tinsley, the Oregon guard that all are drooling over). Yet Gillispie has now taken in multiple Hopson games and has said that he is still looking for a dynamic wing scorer in this class….a role that really only Hopson can fill. It is safe to say that UK now wants Scotty in blue….but the courtship process is interesting to say the least.
Scotty is shifting into tournament mode and the news on Hopson may be scarce for a few weeks. He says he will take a couple more visits after the season is over, and may expect that Kentucky will be one of those. If the Cats can somehow land Hopson in Lexington and squeeze out a JUCO big guy, watch out…..that would put this class shooting up the rankings and into Top 10 land….and give the Cats what they REALLY need for next year….another scoring option. The Cats need a big man…but with the development of Perry Stevenson, they can squeeze out a year without another low post scoring machine. But Crawford and Bradley are leaving and taking 40 points a game with them. Miller and Liggins may bring 15-20 of those points with them, but someone else needs to find another 15 or so if the Cats are going to improve. That man may be Hopson and it looks as if Gillispie’s decision to go visit him in Hoptown shows that Billy Clyde is hoping to make it a reality.
Later today you will Know Your Enemy and learn more about Arkansas….and dont forget that Saturday is the all-day Bracket Buster Blog here on this site. Make sure and tune in. More later…..

Matt mentions UofL, but I saw where Hopson's mother said UofL hadn't contacted Hopson recently.
That doesn't necessarily mean they're behind, but it would suggest that Tennessee and Mississippi State are clearly in the lead.
My gut feeling is that he ends up at UT.

Not according to Scout. It was reported there a month ago that UK is also looking at a 6'7" juco scoring machine playing out west. A guy named Fleming. Who reportedly is interested.

I believe he said he's always been a fan of Kentucky.
I want to land him but at the same time I don't. He seems to have bad work ethic and doesn't try unless the team really needs it. If that's the case and he isn't just doing it to not get a career ending injury then Billy G won't have it. He wouldn't start him, I just know it. I fear if we do get him we will get over hyped, he shows his laziness, and BCG sits him. Then we'll most likely have another Alex Legion on our hands.

Gunsmoke, I can only reply with 2nd and third hand info. I work in Hopkinsville and talk frequently with folks who are involved with kids in the
local sports scene, but honestly I've never spoken with the Hopson family.
Having said all that, word has always been SH liked North Carolina. If he
is a UK fan, he kept it pretty quiet.
Scotty is an enormous talent. He is looking 2 levels ahead....what he can
do to reach the NBA. The only other thing he's looking for is the State Title (basketball goals, that is) UHA won the class A title this year for the first time in awhile, and the team believes they can make a serious run at the big prize. No problem with those goals.
There is no longer much talk of Scotty having a practice problem. I have
never heard he was either a disciplinary problem in class or home, and
never heard he had any academic problems.
My main concern is that Scotty has never been really obvious toward wanting to go to Kentucky. The other concern is how he would react from
being the star of all stars to just another freshman. especially given all
the attention Kentucky players receive.
I still think he will go to the Vols.
