...with how this season has progressed for his son. Injuries like these are a test of one's mental will. Here's hoping Jodie is hanging tough.

Go Cats!

with Jodie's work ethic and the way I have seen Bradley and Crawford develop under BCG, it could be exciting how good he will be. I will go out on a limb and say that Jodie will be and All American before he leaves UK.

Absolutely! I feel for Jodie AND his parents. There is no doubt that the Meeks are suffering along with their son. It must be so frustrating for all of them.:icon_sad:

Yes, please hang in there, Jodie! We UK fans love ya!

I gotta bad feelin Jodie is already planning his exit from Lexington, I hope not but seems very likely to me , possibly the reason for new found love for Scotty Hopson , imho

I think you're nuts. :) Frustrated, but not because of Hopson. Jodie is a warrior and if healthy he will get his playing time no matter who joins that Cats, IMO.

even more frustrating than the unexpected losses has been jodie meeks this year. i really like watching him play. and he seems to be such a great kid, which is quite important to me. i have exchanged emails with his father before and he's a class act as well.

get well jodie, big blue nation loves you.

I think that's a general feeling because of his limited playing time. You see a talented kid not getting to play and you just think "he'll leave." The same thoughts ran through my mind until I realized he would be injured and not playing no matter where he was. The injury probably makes it a little harder for him to leave even if that was his desire. He should have been redshirted but that's hindsight. I don't think anybody wanted him to waste a year and I doubt that he's going anywhere.

I think Jodie is a great player and he will exceed his expectations and impress alot of people. If you watched the Florida International game (which I happened to be watching in Lot F at the WCN tent :icon_biggrin:) you can clearly see what these BCG led Cats can do when we are healthy

Mr. Meeks, please pass our best wishes on to Jodie and let him know how much he's been missed. :widcat:

IMHO=means in my honest opinion ,but then people thought i was nuts for saying either Patterson or Legion or both would leave at years end then Alex bails out earlier than i even thought

I would guess that part of Mr. Meek's frustration has to be with all the rumors that his son is transferring when all Jodie's really trying to deal with are his own frustrations dealing with nagging and lingering injuries. As an athlete, there is nothing worse than doing everything you can to rehab and follow every instruction given by a doctor, trainer, and therapist and STILL your pain/injury persists.

Jodie, keep your chin up, and we all hope you get better...if not fully this season then as soon as possible.

Jodie Meeks is already one of my all time favorite WildCats, he is so much fun to watch and is an incredible talent. I hope he stays around, I can see him leading the Cats along with Pat-Pat to the final four and beyond if they both stick around. A Sr. Meeks, Jr. Pat, and the Freshman coming in this year will be Sophomores, the Cats could easily be the best team in the nation that year. I know Pat can go pro any time, but he seems like a kid that loves the College game, knows the Pros will be there and if he thought he had a real chance of a National Championship his Jr. year he may stick it out one more season, Meeks would go a long way of making the NC possible.

I think that may be one of the more ridiculous things I have read. The reason Scotty Hopson has now been on the radar is that he's a top 10 recruit, and his attitudes seems to have changed.

Losing Jodie would not shock me but we are recruiting Hopson(at least I hope we are) because he is a 5 star player that can score. We need scorers next year. Nothing to do with Meeks. It has more to do with losing our top scorers.

Meeks is not playing today either. Personally, I hope we just shut him down until at least the Tourney. IMO, he came back to soon anyway, but that is just my opinion. That kid has had nothing but bad breaks all year and I am sure it is a year he would love to forget. Pretty much a wasted one.

I don't understand...why would Jodie transfer because of injuries? He'd be getting plenty of PT if he weren't injured.

Why would you think Jodie would leave. It is injuries keeping him from playing not anything else. Jodie plays hard everytime he is on the court and I'm sure he is frustrated about not being onthe court 30 plus minutes a game but transferring to another school want increase your playing time if your physically unable to play. Meeks stays a Cat and Meeks gets healthy and CBG will surround him with talent and his Senior year might just be a very special one (#8). Jodie get healthy and don't come back too soon and risk possibly reinjuring yourself. Priority #1 is to be healthy for the start of next season, then you can show the world what they missed this season.

Now it looks like Jodie is done for the season.

Very tough to swallow.

Mr. Meeks, how is Jodie's mental outlook these days?

On top of what everyone else has been saying, why would he leave and lose a year of eligibility? He doesn't qualify for a medical redshirt, so that would mean he'd only have ONE year of eligibility left if he doesn't stay here. I'm not going to even guess on wether or not he's happy here at the moment, but why would anybody with the talent he's got sit out TWO years basically? He can make it to the next level, but playing what would amount to two freshman years wouldn't be the best means to that end.

If he transferred after this season, he would have to sit out next season. He would then have 2 seasons left to play.

I don't think he's going anywhere, but, if he did, he could still play two full seasons for somebody.

Guess I remembered incorrectly on the transfer rules. I thought a year of eligibility was lost when one transferred.

Either way, I agree with you on not thinking he's going anywhere.

The only plausible answer would be that Jodie and his family think Gillispie has rushed him back and made his injuries worse or prevented his injuries from fully healing. But I've seen no evidence that anyone feels this way. In fact, Mr. Meeks explicitly stated that this wasn't the case in a post on this board in November or December.

Lonny Demaree is reporting that Jodie Meeks will be heading to Pennsylvania next week to have what is being termed as a sports hernia looked at by a specialist. It looks like the only cure for the problem will be surgery which will end his sophomore season. QUOYE from link
************

Folks, ALL I read here is that Jodie is reportedly going to go to Pennsylvania "to have what is being a sports hernia looked at by a specialist." That last part is seemingly only Demaree's opinion and is NOT the opinion of our head coach, who noted Monday night, twice, that they are still hoping Jodie gets to return to the court this season.

SO I'm anxious to hear what the specialist says, if indeed everything is true. I TOTALLY understand Jodie's parents' wanting him to see the very best in this area of medicine, if that is indeed the case.

By the way, Taquan Dean also had a sports hernia during his senior season, I believe. I remember reading that Taquan was thus essentially playing only in games, when he could, and not practicing. Just sharing. GO CATS! GO JODIE!

Heres wishing Jodie has a good recovery and rehab. We will need him next year to take up some scoring slack.
