who do you guys think might be in line for the Indiana job?
Two names I'd heard mentioned are Kevin Stallings from Vandy or
Mike Montgomerey coming back into a head coaching position (Stanford '98).
I really don't see IU keeping any of the current coaching staff around after the season is over. I believe they will clean out the bench and start again.

Believe it or not, another board is reporting that "Boy Wonderful", aka Damon Bailey, is at Assembly Hall as we post.

I have heard some whispers here in Hoosierland and some are saying you could possibly see Scott Skiles as the next coach.
Rumor has it he already has a house in Bloomigton...but then again Parcells, Spurrier and Donnavan all have horse farms in Lexington.;)

Damon Bailey didn't make it at high school level. Alford is happy to be 1000 miles away IMO. but with that said, who knows. Maybe sean miller or jay wright or anthony grant. I'll say bennett from wsu.

I have also heard the Scott Skiles rumblings. However, if interim coach Dan Dakich gets this team to a regional finals it's going to be pretty hard for anybody to take it away from him IMO.

I think the IU faithful should be glad that Dan Dakich is ready to take the reins. I hope that he is given full opportunity to seek the permanent head coach position.
He is of the RMK school of basketball, and while he was a role player for the Hoosiers, he turned in one of the most stellar defensive efforts I have had the pleasure of seeing. He was slow, flat-footed, and somewhat pot-bellied. Knight put him on Michael Jordan in the NCAA tourney and Dakitch held the wunderkind to just 12 points. Absolutely amazing. I think he would make a hard-nosed coach and I think he fully understands the right way to run things, just like his teacher.

Bobby Petrino and Nick Saban have come out and said they are not interested. Also Billy Donovan took it and then backed out.....the search continues.

Stallings is a Purdue grad and a former Gene Keady assistant. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but I would be terribly surprised if it did.

Dont think you could go wrong with Dakich, some of the alumini I have talked to would be happy to have him stay, but for some reason they feel they need a BIG name for the head coach.

SI is reporting "rumblings" (their word) that the Hoosiers are ready to offer Randy Wittman (IU/Knight alum) $10 million dollars to leave the Minnesota Timberwolves. He is deep enough into his contract that the move could be made without a problem.

Thanks, BigBlue75. Too, with Wittmann's NBA connections, such would not surprise me a bit. Such might help them keep their players. In fact, this non-betting woman is betting that it happens, :icon_mrgreen: for Wittmann surely doesn't have a desire to stay with the struggling T'Wolves.:)
