As if we don't have to listen and watch the constant Duke overhype on a 24/7 basis, they switch our game right at the wire. WTF is CBS doing???

I can't help but think that somebody at CBS headquarters thought he'd play a cruel joke.

Duke? Duke cuts in with 30 seconds to go in a Kentucky game? That's no coincidence, my friends.

Just gives me another reason to hate Duke. :thumbdn:

I'm in Pennsylvania. At first it was just a glitch and then I looked at the time and thought the worst. And then the worst happened........Duke came on the tube. What the heck is more important, the end of a game or the beginning?

What is up with CBS!?!?!?! I cannot believe the incompetence of this network. Thank goodness my mom called me from Paducah and said, "wasn't that a great game!" It never went back to the UK game at all. I was stuck seeing the first minute of the Duke game, thinking surely they would get back to it. :tongue3:

Wow, I can't believe they'd do that. Ours never cut away, for some odd reason. Usually, our CBS affiliate is the one that sucks.

As much as ESPN love Duke, they do not cut away from a close game to show the start of their game. Only at CBS I guess. They took the last 50 plus seconds away from us here in South Carolina to start the Duke/St Johns game, bummer.

Tom Blevins
02-23-2008, 03:27 PM
OK, CBS changed the game over to Duke. That's bad enough. What's worse, Channel 27 in Lexington switrched over to the Raycom game, Vanderbilt at Georgia. I swiched to 32 and watched for a couple of more plays, then they switched to Duke. I went to Channel 5 in Nashville, they were carrying the Duke game, too. Thank God for the Big Blue radio network. At least I could hear the end of the game.
The worst thing about all this is that about 2:45 (Central Time) there was a message across the bottom of the screen, saying that the Arkansas-Kentucky game would be carried in it's entirety and the Vanderbilt-Goergia game would be joined in progress. I'm happy that the team won today, but the TV people were, well mama always said if you couldn't say something good about someone, don't say anything at all. So I'll end this post.

God forbid we miss one second of Duke basketball.:icon_rolleyes::icon_rolleyes: I was yelling profusely at the TV before sprinting into the next room to turn on Tom Leach. I can't believe that WKYT, who usually can override CBS when they try to switch away from Kentucky, couldn't even keep them from showing their precious dookies.

This is one more on my long list of reasons I hate dook. They own everything.

The game finally got switched back here in LaGrange during that last out of bounds play in front of the Arkansas bench. What makes it more aggravating is not only was it Duke, but they were playing bleetin' St. Johns! It wasn't like they were playing North Carolina or a top tier team, no. What this infatuation is with Duke by the networks is beyond me.

That's what I said. It's amazing that they would switch away from a 4 point game with 50 seconds left, no matter who was playing in it.

Sports about the only thing, except local news, that I will watch on CBS. We lost the feed here in S. Tennessee, too, for about half a minute game time, but finally got it back in time for end.

Heres the email contact list for the CBS affiliate in Orlando and my message to the general manager...

Unbelievable!!! How in the world do you switch the coverage from the Kentucky/Arkansas game with a close score and 50 seconds left to the beginning of the Duke game and remain there until the Kentucky game was over? What are you people thinking? Incidents like this is why CBS is absolutely HORRIBLE at broadcasting college basketball. How long until your contract for the tournament is up, not a moment too soon in my opinion!

They had to realize that there were a whole lot of Kentucky fans in the area that kind of would have wanted to see the outcome of this game. As opposed to the handful of bandwagon dook fans who were probably all out buying their Red Sox world champion t-shirts at the time anyway.

My feed came back after a few minutes, not in HD however. My sympathies to the guy in this thread that runs the sports bar. I bet you have the affiliates on speed-dial or posted somewhere. Heck, make a sign or an annoucement next time in the bar and tell them ALL to call the network at one time - flood their switchboard.

I sent an email also telling them they had just lost a viewer. I also called the station and some lady who answered the phone told me they were owned by New York and to call them if I had a problem. I also called their sports department and was informed by an answering message that they were only available during the week and if I had a complaint, I was to call NY. That IMO is the pits regarding customer service. In view of the level of complaints they were getting, I would not be surprised if they actually were in and not answering the phone.
