Congrats Pelphrey!

How does that affect the RPI? I just dont think that you can rule us out. We win 2 of 3 and a game in the tourney and we are in! No question in my mind!

Go Gats!

It would've been an unlikely Vandy win anyway, but you've still got to hate it for Neltner. Instinct takes over in situations like that, I suppose.

Great for the 'Cats, though!:icon_mrgreen:

This was big dudes. If Vandy wins, all the pressure in the world on the cats. Hate it for Neltner, but glad he did it.

Doesn't affect the RPI that much, since we've played both teams. However, the affect it has on the standings is huge, hopefully the Cats can take advantage over the last few games of the season.

What did Neltner do? I didn't get to see the game.

Called a timeout when Vandy didn't have any, drawing a technical. This was right after Vandy hit two free throws to cut Arkansas lead to 74-73 with about 8 seconds left. Vandy would have had a chance to win, but the technical sealed it.

The smart guys make a dumb play, but it's all in the game. Like you said, Vandy probably wouldn't have won, but with Shan Foster going ballistic from three point range, you never know.

I would think that it would help RPI since it would raise the stature of Arkansas knocking off a Top 20 team but, I dont understand all of the formulas. Either way, no question it helps us in the standings and our chance for making the tourney!

The basic formula is 1/4*(Winning Percentage) + 1/2*(Opponents' Average Winning Percentage) + 1/4*(Opponents' Opponents' Winning Percentage). So 1 win and 2 losses get added to the second component, opponents average winning percentage (since we played arkansas once and vandy twice) and then 2 wins and 1 loss get added to the third component (to account for vandy's opponent's winning percentage, and then arkansas' opponent's winning percentage). So if anything, it might have caused a slight decrease, but the effect is minimal.
