Coach's statement just now in the post game interview..

Absolutely, and the CATS are coming into the post season feeling pretty good. Losing PPat may have put a dagger in many teams out there...not BIG BLUE. We go out and hang tough with #1 then whip two east conference foes to end the season. We got improvement and contribution from DJ, RH, PS and even some good minutes from AJ. All this points to some good momentum going into Madness...I'm psyched!:widcat:

Coach: Perry usually sits in the corner and doesn't say much. But today at the end of the game, "Coach, give me the ball. I will make two free throws."
WOW I don't know if I've ever seen a group grow up right in front of my eyes like this group has.

Perry you are THE MAN...only a sophomore and already showing HUGE strides in player development and poise...man this kid can be REALLY good by the time he's a senior.

Love this coach. I also love Perry Stevenson. There were long minutes when FL was too itimidated in close and felt he might embarrass them. He did block a couple but intimidated much more often.
Great game by the lanky sophomore. Coach said that Perry said: coach give me the ball I'll make the F.T.'s. He did make two to put the game out of reach. He should have told me that five minutes earlier (kidding).
"These Rupp fans have taken us to 8-0 at home this SEC season. " How about these two seniors!

I sensed that Perry was getting slightly offended by all the questions during the 2Pat press conference announcing the end to 2Pat's season. I think the reporters were trying to reveal some panic, but Perry just kept repeating the same answer...basically that it was sad that 2Pat was out, but other players would step up. I didn't mention it then, but my impression of the tone of his responses was "what am I chopped liver?". That let me know that they hadn't given up, and I knew that we would still see great effort, but nothing like what we've seen from all the guys. I'm liking this maturer and more aggressive Perry. Great game, and THANK YOU for the free throws!
Hey, did you hear one of the CBS guys call us the Bounce Back Cats? I hadn't heard that one before. What do you think? I like it.

I think that is as good of a nick name as any.

Hey Boo,
I'm loving the heart and determination of this team. I never stopped supporting the team or the coach, but I can honestly say that I never expected them to finish this strong with all the bumps in the road. I no longer am questioning whether they'll make the tournament. I'm wondering how deep they'll go. They're playing like they can't be denied, and that's exactly what you want to see at this time of the year. GO CATS!!!!

They are going into a gun fight with a knife night in and night out, and winning the war. Even when they didn't win at UT, UT got the worst end of it. I can't wait until we take some big guns with us.. ;)

At the beginning of the season I had real questions about Gillespie....but he has won me over 110%...I would go out, find the nearest brick wall, and run right thru it if he asked me to...

I loved BCG's conversation with Leach. He was funny and playful, and very complimentary of the team. He's obviously very excited, and he's right. They're just getting started. I also enjoyed him taking the mic right after the game, and talking to the crowd to give 2Pat some applause, and to allow the seniors to address the crowd directly. Great stuff.

Yeah, I don't know how much more my stomach can take with these close games. You just reminded me that we had lots of recruits at today's game. What a game to attend. Hopefully the recruits had a great experience. Let's RELOAD!! :icon_biggrin:

FWIW, I had noticed that, too, BALou. Such was a sign of things to come from Perry, wasn't it! :icon_mrgreen:

I, too, loved it, and bleedbluelady and I were fortunate to watch that conversation "up close." :icon_mrgreen: Too, I loved Coach's happiness excitement then and also immediately after the game, which you mentioned, BALou.
GOOD thread, UKBOO. Yes, Coach said the season has JUST BEGUN! :icon_biggrin:

We have seen players grow up in front of our eyes before though, it has just been a while since it happened. Rick had the same effect on players we are witnessing again.

Yes Rick did. And Tubby had his time as well. Daniels, Fitch and that smothering D by Hawkins.

Exactly and so fair, UKBOO. Too, that team is one of my favorite memories, especially that second-half comeback at Vandy. Those Suffocats were SPECIAL! :)
Back to the title of your thread, I LOVE Coach's saying that the season has JUST BEGUN! :) Also, I LOVE how these guys are playing for him! :) GO CATS! GO COACH G!
