These two teams have a long history in the NCAA tournaments playing against each other. By my count they have played five times. One of those times was a regional consolation game in 1971. The other four were 1972,1975,1994 and 2003. They also would have met 1978 if not for a Miami of Ohio upset of Marquette. The NCAA must like this matchup. This a winnable game for our Cats. Marquette has good guards but are not dominant inside just as we are. I think we will bounce back nicely from the SEC and take out Crean's bunch and move on to play on Saturday.

UK jumps out by 8 or 10, Marquette closes it and takes the lead early in the second half, but UK hits shots at the end to win fairly convincingly.

Marquette will try and fluster us but when we control the tempo and Joe and Ramel take control we win in a close game, like every other game.

Bradley and Crawford come up big with free throws down the stretch. Ramon Harris has a big game.

Stevenson is going to have a very, very good game against their weak interior. It will be interesting to watch our guards versus their guards.
I foresee...

The higher the score the less likely the Cats win. Keep that sucker down in the 50's and low 60's.

I haven't seen enough of Marquette to make a truly informed decision, but from looking at what they did with their schedule, and from the minimal useful information from the talking heads, I feel like this is a winnable game.
But as tough as points have been to come by lately for UK, and against a team who's primary players (stars) are guards (like us), I see the playmakers kind of cancelling each other out, and we'll have another grind-it-out-in-the-50's type of game.
I have a feeling this will be another one of those edge-of-the-seat games that'll be decided in the final seconds. I hope I'm wrong though, 'cause I don't know how many more of those my old heart can take!!!

Everybody's focusing on the guard play, but Stevenson is the big difference in this one.

I've watched them play UofL twice now and watched a few other games with them playing. Marquette is not as good as people suspect them to be. They have pretty good guard play but have nothing down low in the 3 or 4 games I've seen them play. I wouldn't say they don't have anything down low, but i have never seen it do much in a game. We will need to guard them well and try and get the ball down low. Watch for Perry Stevenson to add another good game to this season.

Not even sure what is going on with this game. I like the fact that it will be guard oriented.
