LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The hottest baseball club in the nation, Kentucky has continued its dazzling rise in the national rankings, soaring to No. 2 in latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll, released on Monday morning.
Kentucky (18-0, 3-0 Southeastern Conference) sits just one win shy of tying the school record for the best start to a season and the longest winning streak in school history, set a year ago after a 19-0 start. Last week, UK ranked as the No. 4 team in the Collegiate Baseball poll, the highest ranking since a No. 4 ranking in 2006.
During the weekend, UK swept the Alabama Crimson Tide by a combined 27-8 score, claiming UK’s first SEC opening sweep since the 1996 season. The sweep was the first sweep by UK of Alabama since the 1992 season and marked UK’s first SEC sweep since the 2006 season.
UK also moves up to No. 11 in the latest ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, moving up from No. 17 last week. The Wildcats also moved up one spot from No. 17 in Baseball America’s top-25 to No. 16. The third nationally-recognized poll, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association top-25, will be announced later in the afternoon on Monday. UK returns to action on Tuesday, facing the Morehead State Eagles, with a 4 p.m. ET first pitch at Cliff Hagan Stadium. The game can be seen live on the Big Blue Sports Network (TV) with Dick Gabriel and Doug Flynn calling the action.

Thanks for the link, Bourbon Town Cat Fan. Too, I read that Kentucky's Bat Cats were ONE vote shy of being ranked #1 in that particular poll. How about that! :)

I am going to the Sunday game of the LSU series. I'm taking a friend who's a LSU grad with me :icon_confused:. Anybody else plan on going to any of the games during that series. The Saturday game is on Derby Day, there could be a bleak turnout for that game.

I might be at that game. Definately not the Saturday game, going to the Derby. What I would be interested in, is getting a list together of people who can attend some of these games then meet up at the stadium. I am planning on attending the following home games ....

4/2 - WKU - 6:30
4/4 - Miss St. - 4:00
4/5 - Miss St. - 6:30
4/8 - UofSmell - 6:30
4/18 - UF - 6:30
4/19 - UF - 7:00
5/2 - LSU - 6:30
5/6 - Wright St. - 6:30
5/16 - Ole Miss - 6:30

I had planned on going to the 5/15 game vs. Ole Miss, but the Legends are at home and I have season tickets (since 2001). By the way, if anyone wants to attend a Legends game or has season tickets, give me a yell.

You can listen to most all the games on line threw the UK athletics ... Ive listen to about 12 games already - being stuck here in Texas I have no choice but they have had some good wins and nice pitching thus far...
not to mention some Players of the week both SEC and National, and a Tournament MVP from the Coke claissic.

Could be our best team ever - For those of you that live close, no reason under the sun why you cant take a few afternoons and support them, I would If I was there. They are headed into stiffer and more talented teams as the SEC season progresses so they could use all the support you can give.
A complete schedule of the 50 some games this year is listed at the team pages, they are currently in the middle of a 17 game home stretch (at least was till some PPDs) numerous saturday and sunday games for those of you that have families and I understand that it is a lot cheaper than football and basketball tickets ........ so what you waiting on.

I would love to hear that you have a sell out / the stands are full / or We dont see an empty seat kind of omments while im listening on line. And think of me while watching that Homerun ..
