Now, this might be old news to most, but I personally haven't seen much of Marquette this season, so I did a little stat research. What I found out was helpful to me in realizing what we're "up against", and I thought some of you who knew as little as I did about them might be interested in a few stats/facts.

1. They are currently 24-9, and losers of 3 of their last 6 games.
2. Of their 9 losses, 6 have been on the road. The 3 home losses were to Duke by 4, to Louisville by 14 and to Georgetown by 2.
3. Some "bad" losses were at WV by 15, at UL by 20, at UCONN by 16 and at Syracuse by 15. This tells me they are prone to struggling vs. decent teams on the road.
4. 8 of the 15 players on their roster are Juniors or Seniors, so they do have some experience.
5. They do not list a Center on their roster. It shows 8 Guards and 7 Forwards.
6. They have 4 players 6'8" or taller, with the tallest being 6'10".
7. Based on minutes per game figures it looks like they can go 9 -- and maybe even 10 deep, but only 4 players average more than 20 minutes per game. Coincidentally, those 4 are the only players averaging double-figures in points, ranging from 11.2 to their leading scorer at 14.3 ppg.
8. Their leading rebounder averages 6.5 per game.
9. Their leading assist man averages 4.3 per game, but also averages 2.2 turnovers per game.
10. They are averaging 75.9 points per game for the season, with the highest output being 100 in a win vs. Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and the lowest being 51 in a loss vs. Louisville.
11. They are giving up an average of 64.3 points per game, with the most given up being 89 in a loss to UCONN, and they twice held a team to 37 points in wins vs. "perennial powers" Savannah St. and Florida Gulf Coast.

All of this possibly useless trivia leads me to believe we match up pretty well. They score more than UK on average, but they allow more too. Like UK, the bulk of their scoring comes from their backcourt, and you're never quite sure what you're going to get from their frontcourt players. This leads me to believe we're in for another nail-biter, but I think with a solid effort we can take these guys!!!

GO CATS!!!

I like the breakdown..Thanks.

This I think just solidifies my thoughts that which ever teams can get something happening in the paint will pull this out...my money is on Stevenson and Harris.
