This post is mostly light-hearted. :icon_biggrin: In other words, it's no big deal at all. I just thought it was funny. :icon_lol:
In two pieces about the attendance at the UK/Georgia game, CJ columnist Rick Bozich was throwing out some statistics about the number of UK fans who had gotten into the game. As a fact, evidently, 1458 fans got into the game. Bozich noted that "AT LEAST 80 percent" of the fans were UK fans. He also said that "NEARLY 1,000 UK fans" made it inside the arena. Well, actually, 80 percent of 1458 is a little more than 1166 fans. :icon_biggrin: Yes, he majored in English.
What I had thought funnier, though, was that he stated TWICE that UK fans had outnumbered Georgia fans 8 to 1. IF UK had 1,000 fans there, that means Georgia had only 125 fans in the arena. Since Athens is only barely over an hour away, I would think that QUITE odd. :icon_mrgreen: Too, they had been GIVEN 400 tickets. Just the cheerleaders, band, players' families, and dignitaries alone SURELY occupied more seats than 125. If they didn't, Georgia gave away 275 tickets. Further, IF UK fans actually filled 80 per cent of the seats in the arena, that means our fans outnumbered non-UK fans by 4 to 1.
I just think such is funny. Also, we readers tend to BELIEVE every such stat we read. Obviously, in this case SOME stat(s) is wrong. :icon_mrgreen:
Regardless, KUDOS to the UK fans who made it into the arena. GO UK!!! :icon_biggrin:
