The big three, Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov and now Arther C. Clark are all gone. That marks the end of an era in Science Fiction.

I believe Ray is still around.
It wasn't my intention to dismiss other fine authors. The three I mentioned were often referred to as 'the big three', that is all.

One book by Clark that really stuck with me was Rendezvous with Rama. The book was awe inspiring. It really let the imagination run wild.
Doing a Google search on the book title I just learned there is a movie adaptation (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0134933/) starring Morgan Freeman in the works.

Hate to hear this.
Clark's novelization of Kubrick's 2001 is pretty much a masterpiece. In fact there's no way to truly understand the movie without reading the book. I don't know if I would put him in Heinlein's or Asimov's league as a writer, but as a thinker and a proponent of science fiction, he ranks at the very top. Many of the innovations and ideas that other sci-fi writers used were dreamed up by Arthur C. Clark.
