I'm sure Billy G. did well, but I wonder, was Rome his usual hack, smart-@ss self?

Rome wasnt that bad, they talked about how much they respected each other for different views early in the season and for Billy still comming on the show, then they talked about Georgia a little. It was shorter than I expected.

you mean how Rome was going on about fans freaking out about Gillispie and wanting Tubby back and how he was not a big time coach and was not going to be able to succeed at Kentucky?

Rome is an idiot.

I don't listen to Rome often but Billy is such a class guy it made the whole conversation a lot lighter.
BTW,
The ESPN Cats press event is on now, they already talked to the players about coach and Webb and Diego and injury. Talking to Billy now

Where can we listen? Rome's site wants you to have a membership. Matt Jones says Gillispie took up for himself regarding Rome's previous callout of Gillispie "mis-managing" his players.

I'd love to listen to this!

Laettner was on it also. He explianed why Duke is hated. "It's because of our success." No it's because of you constant flops and folls and getting the calls. And a bunch of jerks!!!!!!

Just missed the first few minutes of his ESPN show. Heard the last of a phone statement by Laettner about why Duke is so hated. Then Rome turns to the camera and says "sorry Kentucky fans but it had to be done". What had to be done? Anybody see it?

Very good interview.

All those that disproved of the SEC's actions during the SEC tourney should listen to Coach Gillispie in this interview.

I like how he and Rome talked about their differences and resolved them like men. It's all about respect.

Gillispie is the man and I hope he is in Lexington for many many years.

Thanks for the link Matt.

Rome only acted like a man because Coach forced him to do so. He is still a childish idiot. Heres to a day when people don't listen to his show anymore. Classic Jim Rome.....kiss a!! to the face......talk about you behind your back.

Clearly you haven't listened to the Rome show very much. He is typically a man about things and gives respect where it is due. And as always, a GREAT interviewer as displayed in the interview with Coach G.

I had to rewind it 2 or 3 times and I'm still not exactly sure what he meant by "it."

The interview?

Laettner "ripping Kentucky's heart out?"

I used listen to the Rome show everyday on my lunch break... and I do agree that he has some really good people on for interviews.... but as soon as the interview is over its slamming time with his bizarre base of listeners.... i actually heard him complain repeatedly of alonzo mourning because he talked about a charity he is doing work for, and didnt talk about his career.... he lets his callers/texters/emailers be heard/read on the air and it is almost always offensive at best.... he is rude, arrogant, and i agree a kiss a**.

I listened for a few months and then noticed myself becoming progressively dumber. Great interviewer? How about great guests? That seems more appropriate. Hearing Rome say 'I respect that' is probably one of the most annoying parts of the show. Who cares what/who some bloviating radio host respects when the talking head is not respectable himself? The truth is....he is rude to callers, and not just the 'Clones' that call in to smack talk or say something irreverant, but to callers with real questions/comments. He is entitled to his opinion. The problem is that idiotic comments (like those made about Billy G) are little more than a method for seeking attention. Rome spews psychobabble on a regular basis. The only difference in this situation is someone heard it and called him on it. And it would have to be Coach himself. There is a reason they call his listeners 'clones'. You know they are not going to say anything...i think I will stick to sports radio with actual content. I am sure you have seen it, but watch the interview with Jim Everret...........thats Jim Rome in a nutshell. Too bad Everret didn't punch him in the vocal chords.

You're right about that, Billy G is the man! Just think, we wanted Billy the Kid, but got Billy the Man instead. I think we got a better deal!

Coach G's interviews are absolutely fabulous. I especially liked the comment he made early on about when Kentucky's roster is full, it will be a different Kentucky. I am so excited about the future of this program and extremely confident that we are going to be back at the top very quickly.

I, too, think that we "got a better deal." Too, the descriptions are quite fitting, at least based on the recent press conferences after losses.

We got Billy the Man, not Billy the Kid! :icon_mrgreen: What UK fan could not LOVE the sound of that phrase! :icon_biggrin: GO CATS! BEAT MARQUETTE!

btt. Great opportunity to learn about the nature of our Coach. Folks, I can't express how happy I am to have Billy Gillispie here. I absolutely love him. He put Rome in his place, and did it the best way possible. Straight-forward, no bs, man it is great to have somebody who has the old-school principles and values that Coach Gillispie has.

Love him, I really do. It's awesome to be a Cats fan.

the only and i mean only thing rome has to offer is the slight opportunity that while viewing his show someone will knock the punks a@# out , and i mean LIGHTZ OUT !!!!!! you know that the conversation when hes in the room is prefaced with " Whys he here ? " is there anyone who dosen't believe that he could not really speak in that monotone ? if he played sports .............................
