I haven't felt optimism for two years. In 2007 and 2006, we were coming off disappointing 9-7 SEC campaigns, the talent wasn't meshing with the system, off court distractions were frustrating and I expected very little heading into the tournament. In fact, I was surprised that we beat Villanova last year (arguably our best win of the year) and I was surprised we beat UAB in '06.

This year? We could lose to Marquette and I'll be OK. This team has battled through so much adversity I'm just happy to be in the tournament. It's like playing with house money and I haven't played with house money in awhile. If the Cats play spoiler and win a few games, even better.

Best of all is the future looks bright. We're losing two of the best in Joe and Ramel, but getting back a healthy Meeks and Patterson coupled with the incoming freshman. Kentucy will be relevant for the next decade and that's what I had missed these last two years.

NOTE: I posted a question a few weeks ago and no one responded. Does anyone know if Joe and Ramel are scheduled to graduate?

The Detroit and New York chapters of the alumni club are about to get new members. Good stuff.
