This guy knows Kentucky basketball. He sums up how I feel quite well. One very good quote is "Smith has earned the right to get a pass this season, but certainly not the right to complain if he doesn't."

I too think it's a good article.

Some of the expectations may be too high, but it's not like Tubby didn't know that when he came to UK.

He could toil in obscurity at somewhere like, say, Wake Forest, or he could burn in famous effigy at a place like Kentucky.

He chose the latter. He made his own bed.

Time for him to make it the right way or give it to somebody else.

"It's because one title doesn't necessarily mean tenure."

Especially liked that line. :wildcatface

Speaking of Wake Forest, I never have understood why Dave Odom left there to go to South Carolina. He had a really decent program in a competitive league. Did he think he had taken Wake Forest as far as it could go?
The other way around. Wake didn't atomatically roll over Odom's contract and basically forced him out.

Interesting the way the writer begins the article...

It's not a good sign for coach Tubby Smith when the best basketball played by Kentucky this season was confined to a motion picture.

I have a couple of issues with the article, but overall, it was pretty good, IMO.

Tubby has some soul searching to do after this run is over. He is getting all the support he wants from his boss, but the fans are split big time on him. And if we lose tonight, the split gets wider.

UK basketball is what it is. It is a job you must embrace and accept with eyes wide open. You are only as good as your last win at UK. While I feel certain OTS understands the complexities involved, I am not sure he has the personality for it. But as the writer said...he should have known this coming in. Certain expectations must be met and teams like this year are not close to expectations.

He has to fix it and fast. Or move along and let someone else do it.
