I think we will get the harrelson kid out of Illinois...6'9 270 Juco player but has the likes of Okla St,Ohio St and Ky lookin at him...I'd say he would start if we get him he would be a junior

C Harrelson 6'9 270
F Patterson 6'9 245
G Jasper 6'6 215
G Meeks 6'5 220
G Galloway 6'7 215

6th man Stevenson for Harrelson or Pat
plus Harris,Stewart,Liggens,Miller,Porter comin off the bench I like that lineup a lot..From what I read from Rivals the only thing holdin up the Harrelson kid is Western Illinois letting him out of his intent..The coach was fired 2 weeks ago and they are working on his release but is high on Kentucky

Its gonna be really hard to keep Stevenson on the bench after the performance he gave this year!!

The thing I like most about that proposed roster is that there would be competition at every position. Something we haven't seen at Ky for a while. Hopefully this will be the start of less slippage from year-to-year as well.

Coach might still not want to start Stevenson since this year he liked to use him to give us a spark off the bench.

Harrelson would be a SO, which is why he would need a release from his LOI.

Other than Jodie, who shoots from outside with that lineup?

I doubt we would be out-rebounded many times if that roster holds true. Also, I am not sure our ball-handling would be stellar either.

Nobody...therein lies one of the BIG problems. Although Miller, even as a Frosh, is a good shooter.

We need shooters...we need scorers.

I would like Harrelson for big body help, which is a need.

But we need to be able to nail 3 pointers to go anywhere of any significance.

all are valid points but we gotta take it one yr at a time with Dr. G at the helm right now he is working on depth and I hope he can..We will get our outside shooters coming in just gotta work a little at a time

I don't know if we NEED three pointers. I mean obviously its a huge part of the game but with Meeks hitting 2-3 a game, Miller 1-2, and Jasper 1-2 thats anywhere from 4-7 a game just from those three and I'm sure Liggins can throw a couple in every now or then. Its not shooting the three that will be key, it'll be defending it.

I disagree to a point. Defending it big for sure.

However, look at the teams winning now...3 pointers are key elements. Consistent 3 point shooters will make our inside game better and win us games late in the year.

We need shooters.

The three point line moves back a foot next year.... Personally I think that has a major impact on how the three is used.

I think Harrelson is a pretty good shooter also, but I am not sure about that. I think our last scholarship will be for a scorer/shooter.

EXACTLY!!! No matter how well you defend, you need guys that can shoot the three well. That is the only way you can ever make up a bigger deficit in a game. If you can't knock down the three, it is almost impossible to come from behind in a game.

I don't think it will change it that much. The good shooters will still be able to make it from the new distance and we will still need someone to knock down some threes.

I think we will be just fine..all we have talked about is getting big inside all yr and now all of a sudden we need outside shooters..well we all new bradley and Joe were leaving all yr lol so if we can get Harrelson that is what we need We saw what Perry is cabable of and I think we can rely more on him..We lost 2 gaurds and have 2 very good ones coming in and possibly more..just today hopson said Kentucky was goin to be a visit so thats a possabilty too...We need a big down low to help and 6'9 270pds is just what the dr ordered

Jasper is a good 3 point shooter. He just needs to have more confidence in his shot. If he misses one early, he quits shooting. Galloway hit over 40% from beyond the arc this past season but, like Jasper, he doesn't take a lot of shots.

Well, good outside shooters, whether they be 3 point shots or not, will open up the inside for whoever is down there. We need a CONSISTENT balanced attack. We need guards who can shoot and drive, we need wings that can shoot and drive and we need inside guys who can go strong to the basket and consistently hit a 10-12 shot. They also need to play lock down defense.
The problem is Jasper, Harris and Porter don't take over and shoot with any confidence so another team just doesn't have to play defense against them. Perry is not a low post player, he's a dish to guide when the defense slides over to stop the dribble penetration. He ONLY makes open shots, put a big body on him and guard him tight and he disappears.
Jody is the bomb and so is PP, but that's all we have.

If DJ and Razor would play every game like they did against UF, then it's a mute point and we'll be fine, but I didn't see them do that the last 2 games of the season, which worries me quite a bit.

Folks, Harrelson can shoot the three. So can Galloway. And Miller. Miller I have seen do it live, in person. The other two I have seen on film. They look like shooters to me. JMO.

Hopson is a player i feel we need. To bad Legion couldn't get with the program.

Any news on Chris Turner up in Oregon?

Ramon hit some three's this year and I hope he works on that as well as other aspects of his game this summer...and I do think Porter could help in the three area off the bench.

I think the new team with this coaching staff will be somehting else. If, God forbid, not next season then the next. The foundation is dug.

Hopson,Chris Turner????????

I don't know alot about Harrelson but i will say this. A kid who is 6'9 270 and can shout the three along with a strong inside game is my kind of player. I always felt Orbzuit could have contributed from the outside if given the chance...........

Could Harrelson be the next Scott Padgett with a little more game on the inside?????????

I think Hopson is getting the full court press and everyone else his size is 2nd.

If you heard Gillispie on his call in tonight, he made it VERY clear that we need shooters and scorers desparately and he was going after some. He flat said we need to "upgrade this roster". He correctly pointed out that we had 3...count them...3...players score a fg in our loss to Marquette.

We cannot simply depend upon Jasper and Harris to learn to shoot over the summer. They may improve (and Jasper is fair if he has time for a set shot 3 pointer), but to just expect that will happen without recruiting someone who already can shoot is a bad combination. If they do, which Gillipsie also said that they must, then great for us. UK cannot just sit back and just hope it happens. That kind of thinking hurt us the last 2 years, IMO.

True, especially due to having to wait on Harrellson to be let be let out of his LOI, in which case he's ours. Flemings is the back up for Hopson.

I'm hoping there's some legs to the idea of Ebanks, but that's currently a long shot from where I'm sitting.

The development of Stevenson physically and game-wise is as crucial as any for next year. ANYTHING that will allow AJ to learn to utilize his athleticism will be a huge bonus for us next year.

Here's to a continuation of the improvement next year  And most of all, here's to a HEALTHY '09 season :beer:

If we don't get Hopson, losing Legion hurts next year.

Ebanks would be a great pickup especially if we can't get Harrelson.
Hopson would have the opportunity to explode early on if he chooses to come.

It's amazing how many players that are in the mix. I don't ever remember this much recruiting buzz under Tubby, (not bashing Tubby, he was a great coach) I just find it amazing what this man is doing at UK so quickly. Go BILLYCLYDE!!!

I think i said it best last night. He has done a great job recruiting in his coaching career in the past at football schools.

With UK and all of it's resources, the sky is the limit.........
