I was having a discussion regarding possible JUCO transfers that could help UK next year. During the conversation the topic came up of JUCO players Pitino had recruited early in his stay at KY. I remember Dale Brown. Wasn't there a big man that played for a year or two? Does anyone remember his name? Or, am I just delusional?

Rodney Dent was a JUCO, IIRC.

Thanks. I thought his last name was Dent but I couldn't remember his first name.

Dent is correct.

I could only remember 'Dent' myself...couldn't remember the first name.

I also remember Pitino looking really hard at JUCO players, as well as stating he would be OK with players leaving after two years...he referred to this as a 'reverse JUCO'.

I'm old fashioned. Or just old. Still like the four year player.

Remember Rodney Dent's brother? Seems like Pitino was interested in him for awhile. Not sure what ever happened there.

Pitino also got a lot of mileage out of transfers from four-year programs. Travis Ford, Derek Anderson, and Mark Pope. Not to leave out Todd Svoboda. Plus he left Heshimu Evans for Tubby. Tubby as a general rule refused to take transfers from D-1 schools. He made an exception for Patrick Sparks, but he refused to take the Humphreys kid who left Oklahoma and reportedly had UK as his first choice of a new school. Like Tubby couldn't have used him for two years.

Yes, wasn't it nice to have program that guys wanted to transfer to, instead of away from?

We are headed back to that destination.

Easy, I've noticed you are over here a lot more... Have they closed up shop at DD. I like your style here, much better mannered... You are gonna pop Tubby every chance you get, but we all have to have our outlets.. Just wanted to say that you are an asset at this board... Good posts..

My manner is the same at every board I post at. DD is my favorite board because they do not edit/delete. Of course, that does make things a bit more rowdy at times, but, I have a thick skin. Sometimes it goes too far there, but, that's the price for not having the e/d button all the time.

I will openly say yhat it's not everybody. But, I've always been on good terms and respectful with anyone that is that way with me, even in disagreement. Will, Poodoo and UKBob all come to mind as people that were not in agreement with me over tubby, but, I can't remember having a disrespecful dispute with any of them.

I never attack anyone first, I have been accused of "killing a fly with a slegehammer" and that probably an apt description.
