A white square is all I can pick up as well. Bourbon Town Cat it sounded like it was going to be something juicy but all I am getting is a white square.

The first one should be fixed now. I fixed it, I thought------it works for me.

I finally got it. Thanks Matt for fixing it. Poor Chuck I guess that was embarrassing. If saw that right he didn't shoot a foul shot right or maybe two foul shots as a lane violation.

Chuck looks like a special olymics player has been coaching him on FT form.
To have a funky shot once is understandable, and humorous, but 4 shots going 0 for 2 twice all on ugly retard looking shots???
WTH are they doing in Houston. He never shot like that at UK.
CHuck, bring Richie in for a weekend of Kentucky Proud food and some freethrow lessons!

If he did it just once,...okay,...but he did it twice??? That is kinda embarrassing. I'm with Winston though, Chuck is still one of my favorites.

While not that bad, Chuck did develop a hitch to his free throw shot his senior year if you will remember. I think it is kind of like a golfer getting the yips on short putts. It is in his head.

Yeah, I remember Chuck having a little hitch in his FT shots his senior year. Sort of like he's imitating Meadowlark Lemon. However, it was never THAT weird at UK.
Trueblujr
03-24-2008, 08:44 PM
Chuck was a career 73.3% free throw shooter while at UK which is not all that horrendous, and certainly not evident of his current free throw form, evidently something has gone wrong....horribly wrong with Chuck at the line.

I have NEVER seen anything like that before. I thought Wayne Turner and that dude from UofL had ugly free throw strokes, but YIKES that is bad! Doesn't he have development coaches??!?:icon_question::icon_lol:

I'm not an all-star or anything, but I did play varsity basketball all thru high school, and I have absolutely no idea how (or WHY) his shot would look like that. He doesn't even keep his feet balanced or anything

I'll be honest. That is very VERY weird. My wife has better form than that. It's hard for me to understand why he'd do that.........................
I'm baffled and perplexed. :shrug1: The sad thing is, you can hear the whole crowd laughing.:icon_frown:

The hitch in his shot got continuously worse throughout his senior year, but it never really affected his free throw shooting. He was always a pretty good FT shooter. However, it's pretty clear that it's gotten worse. That is just UGLY.

does anybody here watch the nba alot ?? does he always shoot like that ?
I'm just really having a hard time understanding what was going on there..

He always had it. He just shot more free throws his Sr yr. I always contributed it to the double pump he had on all his shots. It actually served him well in traffic.

I remember him as always having the hitch also. I dont remember him falling towards and /or away from the basket like that.

that is one of the most ridiculous looking things I have seen in a long time. Someone smack him in the head and show him how to shoot a free throw. It's really not that hard. I don't get how the hell that even happens

No, he never fell like that. He looked like he was nervous. I would have thought a pro shot doctor would have fixed that by now.

Chuck's only shooting 41% from the foul line this year. He's a career 60% shooter.
He was actually a pretty good foul shooter for a big man while he was at UK. He shot 73% for his career.
I watch a lot of NBA games, but I haven't seen the Rockets that much. I can say that I've never seen Chuck move his left foot like that before. It looks like he just lost his balance in the middle of his stroke, which is understandable. But doing it twice? Eesh.
It's obviously a mental thing. It reminds me of the time I played church league softball and went through a stretch of a few games where I absolutely could not make contact with the ball, which is one of the easiest things to do in all of sports.

He looks like Charles Barkley swinging a golf club. Have you ever seen Barkley when he basically hesitates, stops and then swings? Apparently he wanted to play better golf and some psychologist messed him up even more.

I agree with this. I had a "Rick Ankiel" moment when I played high school baseball. Just lasted one day, and luckily it was only a practice. But I COULD NOT thrown the ball to save my life. It was like I forgot every single detail that went into throwing a baseball. How do I hold it? How far back do I take my arm? When, exactly, do I need to let go?
It was comical. My partner was standing about 30' from me, and I'd either sail it over his head or bounce it about 10' in front of me, usually off to the side a bit.
Sounds easy, now, but all I had to do was stop thinking...and voila. I could throw a baseball again. :icon_lol:
I caught a lot of crap for that day. Still hear about it from a few friends.
Hes just got a Shaq type shot going on there. If he wants to work on it he will... And I'm sure he could care less what people think of his free throw lol
" He is in the NBA you know lol I would be soo sicked I wouldn't care what anybody was saying."
Maybe he can get Yaos teacher and shoot 90% LOL :icon_biggrin:
And for the record Yao had the worst shot out of anybody I've ever seen. Even back in the day. I watch toooooons of NBA, more than NCAA because of the fact that it last a heck of a lot longer. And the playoffs are INSANE !!!! Yoa shot the ball over the goal at one time lol falling on your face doesn't beat that :icon_mrgreen:

Hayes always had the hitch, only senior year they just decided not to fight it, so it got a little more exacerbated.

As folks are saying, Chuck's career percentage while at UK was 73.3%, which is certainly more than decent, and especially for a big man. It seems that his NBA career percentage, though, is 60% and only 41% this current season. One would THINK that someone in the NBA would be qualified to help him. :shrug1:
Hitch or not, it certainly must be mental. I have seen him miss the freebies in games and have felt for him and thought back to how he had not have problems with them at UK.
The thread has also made me think of Derrick Jasper's difficulties at the line. As my husband says, that's mental. On open long-distance shots, when he has time not to rush his release, Derrick shoots beautifully. Yet, he has all the time in the world at the free throw line and struggles mightily. :shrug1:
The mind can be a "funny" thing. Best of luck to both Chuck and Derrick, who are favorites of mine.

That is just too weird to watch, I can't avoid it. I bet he won a spectacular bet though!
- Hey Chuck, I bet ya can't embarrass yourself on the free throw line!
- Oh, yeah? I bet you I could!
- No way!
- How much?
- $...
Next day:
- Where's my money?
- Here you go. I bet ya can't do it again!!!
- Oh yeah!?! You're on: double or nothing!
- Fine, deal.
Next day:
- Where's my money?
- Here you go...

I can't figure out why he has it. It makes no sense. Why hesitate?
I understand things like that become mental, but still. It's like someone put stick-em on the ball.
It reminds me of another player who used to do a similar thing, but he did it on purpose in an attempt to pick up lane violations.

Actually, that was Costanza's description. "A full-body dry heave set to music" :)
What I want to know is why he was shooting what appeared to be technical foul shots, or was it a flagrant?

He developed a double pump since he was always undersized playing inside. He double pumps everything. Or at least he did while at UK. It seems he still does.
