I will be the first to admit, before this season even began, I was the loudest opponent of Billy Gillispie. I knew very little about him, but that didn't stop me from running my mouth. I don't have to tell any of you what the first ten games of our season did to fuel the fire.
Now, as a new member on WCN, and as my first post, I want to admit my horrible case of prejudging. It is hard to be a Wildcat fan and not criticize everything you see with our teams, but I have no criticism of this season. I have seen phenomenally talented teams, and teams that will be in the history books, but never have I seen a team that finished a season so passionately, coach included. When I watched as Joe Crawford had that towel over his eyes in the final seconds of his last game as a Wildcat, I caught myself getting choked up. That was just one of the many moments in the past three months that I knew how proud I was to be a UK fan. I hope to see every player that puts on a blue jersey have that much emotion at the end of their senior year.
So, in conclusion, I am proud of this season, proud of this team, and after spending this week reading everything that has been written on this website, I am prouder than ever to be one more true Kentucky Wildcat fan. GO CATS!!!

Some (myself included) had concerns. But Gillispie has alleviated all of mine now.
He is the real deal.

It was definitely a rollercoaster ride! After all was said and done, I have to say it was the most fun I've had watching UK basketball since the 2004 season. Hopefully, it will only get better!

Let me tell you something. My Aunt is not very sold on Billy G. She wanted him fired on December. She's still not sold even after that 12-4 season. She was critizing him on that Marqeutte game. She is a huge Tubby fan.

Let me tell you something. If there aren't Kentucky fans out there who don't want the coach fired, head for the bomb shelter because the apocalypse is surely upon us.

Truest post of the year.
Billy could win three national championship in four years and some would say he should be fired for not winning that fourth.

I don't beleive that. There might have been some that didn't particularly care for Pitino, but, I never heard even one person hint that he should be fired.

I do believe we have the most passionate guy coaching the GREATEST team with the most passionate fans. It almost reminds me of Alm McGuire and the dreaded Marquette Warriors. We will be the most feared team in any sport at any level! It will take the next couple of years to get there and then it will be like the 96 squad. People will fear UK. It will start with this class we are about to sign and will build from there. If you build it they will come. He is building it. He sleeps, eats, drinks and breathes UK Basketball just like We do. There is no one better to be at the helm!

Don't worry about it. It takes guts to admit you're wrong and others will respect that. I was wrong about Joe and Ramel, I thought these two didn't have it. I used to say that Tubby couldn't coach, but the job he did at Minnesota this year proved me otherwise - the man just needed a change of scenery. Billy G. is proving that he's the man for the job and deserves time to get this thing turned around. Very good post:thumbup:

I thought you've always said your beef with Tubby was his inept recruiting the last couple of years. He was a good bench coach but his recruiting (or lack there of) reared it's ugly head.
Not trying to start up anything big but I am just curious with this statement. Also, I'm not looking to hijack this thread or anything.

The Kentucky Wildcat fanbase is such that if the 'Cats went undefeated in the regular season, the SEC tournament, and the NCAA's, won the national championship by 40 points going away with all the starters on the bench watching the subs mop up, and the average margin of victory for the season at 25.5 points, SOMEBODY would manage to find something to raise a flag and complain over it. That's just the nature of things.
Sounds like your aunt fits in with us really well. :icon_mrgreen:;)

Now that the confession line has opened up, "Forgive me 'Nation' for I have sinned'", I doubted and proclaimed as true, that Joe, and Ramel would infect the water and never allow Coach to gain control. As we know, I was wrong. ( easy on my penance wildcat nation)

Not trying to start up anything big but I am just curious with this statement. Also, I'm not looking to hijack this thread or anything. The last two years made me doubt his coaching, before I thought he was a good bench coach but the last two years made me think talent carried him in the past. I realize that the talent has been down and the job he did at Minnestota convinced me he's a much better coach than I gave him credit for. I think the recruitiing was down the past two years and "burnout" had set in. He looked fresher this year than he has in 5 years.
I'm confessing that Tubby was a better coach than I thought.......rejoice, rejoice Wildcatnation!!!!
Did you hear that Russ?..........LOL!

I had not noticed your signature, ProudBlue, until Matt Dillon had pointed it out. I love your signature AND your post.
While I don't have a signature, I've always said that it takes a BIG person to apologize, or to admit that he's wrong. Well, needless to say, I think you are a VERY nice, BIG addition to WCN. If tou had not confessed, no one here would have even known what you had said earlier in the year before joining the site. :icon_mrgreen: Yes, I'm easily impresssed, but I'm VERY impressed by your post.
Also, I like confessions, period. :) Personally, I'm often wrong and often confess, but I still have somehow not gotten any bigger, at least in height. :icon_mrgreen: Anyway, this little, old lady is giving you a deserved BIG WELCOME TO WCN.
