9:30 ET on ESPN. Who are y'all interested in seeing? (besides Hopson, of course).

My list-

Demar Derozan (really as athletic as he's considered?)
Willie Warren (come on, you know you are too)
Jrue Holliday (really as smooth as Joseph Forte?)
Tyler Zeller (how can someone so goofy looking be so good?)
Brandon Jennings (highlight reel)

Looking down the list, you can really see how weak this class is in top-tier talent relative to the previous two classes. No Oden/Durant/Beasley/Rose/Gordon/Wright type players.

Everyone knew that Oden and Beasley were the real deal. You can argue that a few guys like Brandon Jennings Holiday and a few others will be among the best in the nation next year. We knew Durant was going to be good but not as good as he ended up being. I think last years class had more superstars but it seems this years class is a lot deeper

Is the girls game not televised? I actually wanted to watch some of this and see who was going where. Does anyone have the rosters for the girls teams?

Girls' game is on ESPNU and ends in about 30 minutes. Rosters and college destinations are here:

Thanks DC. Wow. UT and Rutgers both have 5 AAs going there for the girls side. Can we say, recruiters? How amazing would it be to get 5 AAs on our side one day. I noticed we were in touch with probably 10 of those guys at one point. And actually fairly high on their lists. Its going to be great when we start landing all of these guys

How great would it be to have Hopson come out wearing a UK jersey his first time on the court and announce he picks the Cats

Talk about immediately becoming a fan favorite - that would be sweet

I had heard that Hopson was originally going to announce at the Big Mac game, but now they are saying he's going to visit UT and a couple of others before deciding. I don't think we'll know about Hopson until late in the spring signing period.

Okay, you stat freaks, if you throw it off the backboard and the receiving player scores, is it an assist?

teamchemistry09
03-26-2008, 08:56 PM
Yes Larry it is considered a pass so he should get the assist. And Brandon Jennings. Wow. Congrats to Lute Olsen. 4 assists in under 5 minutes

Hopson is 31 in the white. UK was conspicously absent when they talked about his possible schools. :shrug1:

Don't worry about it!

BCG will get his chance. If Hopson is up for what is offered, great!. If not, great luck wherever you go!

After his first basket, did he throw up the Bradley (Rockafella) sign? I looked at it a few times and it appears he may have. Not reading into, just curious.

i also noticed they didn't mention UK. anybody got the scoop on that?

and btw about pearl's recruiting. a friend in the cincinnati area told me that he makes regular visits to a "physical education oriented" high school up there and through the grapvine heard hes always bringing presents with him. not sure if its true or not but hey, hopefully he'll get caught if he is doing something wrong.

I watched it a few times, and indeed it was the DDP/Jay-Z/Ra-smooth sign, though I seen Patterson do the Gator Chomp before he committed to UK. You never know.

Hopson said earlier that he's visiting UK, don't worry. This is my first time seeing him. Man he's smooth and athletic. I really hope we land him.

Singleton's not bad either. Jennings hot dogging and ballhogging pretty heavily, but it comes with the game. Willie Warren has been a bit quiet. Not overly impressed with too many, to be honest. Demar Derozan has disappointed a bit with his overall game. Mike Rosario and Michael Dunigan impressed me quite a bit, would really have liked for us to have landed Dunigan. He's big, strong, mean, and he hustles.

Im really only impressed with a few people. Kemba Walker Drew 2nd and Rosario and Evans. Jennings is too worried about showing off to do anything productive. Monroe, Zeller, and any other big man have disappeared, which is understandable due to the type of game. Hopson is doing ok with I think 11 right now. I wish hed hit those free throws though. Willie Warren waits to shoot it until a guy gets in his face. Ed Davis is pretty smooth with the ball though. The best scorer is by far Evans and the best player overall is Kemba Walker IMO. But Jennings is starting to do it himself so I may come back and edit this post in a few minutes.

I've never seen any of these players in person, but I've kept up with all of their recruitments for some time. It's interesting to see how scouting on recruiting websites translates to these games.

If you didn't watch the game, forget everything you hear on ESPN about what Jennings did. I won't lie that he stuffed the highlights, but he made more bad decisions than the rest of the both teams combined.

In general, the majority of the play and players disappointed. Like I said previously, this year's class is a notch below the 07 and 06 classes, but I expected more Rosario-like performances out of at least some of the guys.

Players who surpassed my expectations:
Mike Rosario (the most, by far)
Scotty Hopson
Michael Dunigan
Ed Davis
Luke Babbit
Kemba Walker

Players who disappointed:
Demar Derozan
Brandon Jennings

Players who were about what I expected:
Jrue Holiday
Malcolm Lee
BJ Mullens
Tyreke Evans
Tyler Zeller
Larry Drew
Greg Monroe
Samardo Samuels

If a player's not listed, it's because I didn't get enough of a look at him (Eliot Williams, Iman Shumpert, Chris SIngleton, some others)

These All Star games suck really.

Do any of these kids know how to shoot? Hit FTs?

It is a guard game. The big guys like Monroe, Samuels, etc... have no chance to display their game because of the hot dogging by the guards...see Jennings and Evans.

The kid going to Rutgers was the best one out there, IMO.

As for Hopson. Smooth player that can score.

If we got him, it would be great, but we still need more shooters and a big man.

I was very unimpressed by the shooting. When they missed they didn't just miss, they missed badly.

And there were way too many turnovers (I know its an all star game, but still way too many). There were a few moments there when I could have sworn a volleyball game had broken out. :icon_mrgreen:
