Alabama junior forward Richard Hendrix announced on Wednesday he will enter the National Basketball Association draft this year but does not plan to sign an agent, leaving open the option of returning for his senior season with the Crimson Tide.
Hendrix, who averaged 17.8 points and 10.1 rebounds to lead the Crimson Tide in both categories, may attend workouts with NBA teams in an effort to enhance his draft status but his decision to not sign with an agent allows him to retain his amateur status with the NCAA.
"I'm going into this procedure with the highest hopes and the best expectations," Hendrix said. "It's always been a goal of mine to play at the next level. When the opportunity presents itself, I want to give it a try."
