Like so many others here, I watched Memphis last night and was quite impressed. It "hit" me that not only did the SEC's Tennessee team hand Memphis its only loss, more specifically, a loss on its own homecourt, but also that MSU has been the only NCAA Tourney team even to give Memphis a game (and if I'm remembering correctly, MSU had a REAL shot in that one).

Those facts are interesting to me. Yes, the SEC was "down" this year and certainly performed unimpressively in the Big Dance. YET, so impressive Memphis did not look so impressive against either of those two SEC teams. :icon_mrgreen: It will be interesting to see how Memphis performs against Kansas Monday night, of course. Monday night Memphis may get competition better than what UT and Mississippi State presented. We'll see. :)

Those two games would have been good if UT would have done something with their season or if MSU would have won and went deep into the tournament. Now, the only thing UT's win accomplished was keeping IU's 1976 undefeated season record intact.

Oh, no doubt. Yet, it's still interesting to me how both of those SEC teams competed so well against a Memphis team that had gone undefeated except for that home loss to UT, a Memphis team that averaged 17-point victories against its three opponents after MSU, a #5, a #2, and a #1.

Again, true, most obviously neither of those SEC teams accomplished anything in the Big Dance. Too, I "catch" your last statement, although I had not thought of that. Sorry about that. :)
