Are we expecting anyone other than perhaps Galloway to commit/sign with UK today?

With the one open scholarship you would think some of these players would be jumping at the offer, but we're not seeing that. It may take some time for KY to be the premier program again.

Yea it's been 5 hours into signing day and we do not have any new letters of intent. I guess we have really fallen. The KY of old would have signed all 6 kids this morning at 7:01 AM.
Be patient.

There are recruits that would definitely be signing right now if we had actually offered a scholarship. But I think those are mostly the Plan B guys...it would appear that the first choice recruits all still have visits to make.

i dont think galloway will or even can sign another loi.....i do think he will enroll here....there is a rule about only 1 loi per person....same goes for harrelson.....remember legion,,,he never signed here either

Correct, you can only sign one LOI.

That's not the point. UK has one scholarship to give unless things get creative which is doubtful. If UK is the premier program and recruiting six kids then one would/should jump quickly since only one of the six would get to play for UK. I guess there's more to recruiting than that, but there's a post on here somewhere with a whole list of players who have offers.

One from Legion
One from Crawford
One from Bradley
One from Courey
Possible one from Porter (goes on some other type of scholarship or grant)
Possible one from Carter (same as above)
One went to Miller
One went to Liggins
One going to Galloway
Leaves coaches with 3 left.
Been hearing all along that the coaches would like to add up to 3 additional players. I think they have a certian pecking order for the 3 with Harralson being at the top.
Just what I have been hearing out and about.

Not true. He walked-on on day 1, but was awarded one later.

Temporarily, as I understood it. Morris' departure left the team with one unused scholarship for the year, so it was given to Coury.

Right. Not sure if he got it again when Legion left, but it was never meant as a permanent thing.

It is my understanding that Coury played last year as a walk-on. They had toyed with the idea but you can't keep going on and off scholarship.

Not talking about what they signed with just talking about what was used this year since a scholarship is renewed every year. Anyway Courey was awarded the scholly just for this year.
That is where I am getting my numbers.

Coury had no scholarship....he's a walk-on.
Don't count on Carter's...I haven't heard him giving it up
Why Porter would give anything up to Kentucky after being booed by his home fans is beyond me.
We had the one from Legion and were short one this year. We lost two
seniors. We are looking at 3 signees.... that leaves us one.
Galloway, Patillo, Flemings, Harrelson, Majok, Macoy
Take your pick....everything else will have to get creative a little later on.
Galloway is one of the 3 already.

Coury is a walk-on. He was given a scholarship this year. UK did not use the scholarship so they gave it to Coury. This has been reported by the coaching staff. Porter will either go on some kind of grant or academic scholarship or be gone (just my opinion). Carter will either transfer to Gerogetown College or another NAIA school or should be placed as a walk-on again (just my opinion). I hope UK ends up with Harrelson,McCoy if Jasper leaves (hopefully not), the other kid from the same JC as Galloway plus the 3 we already have (counting Galloway).
Would not be the first time I am wrong but this just an opinion.

"if Jasper leaves"???
I haven't heard anything on this. What's the deal here. Why would Jasper leave? He is loved by BCG.

We need one scholarship open next year for clarence trent  http://video.aol.com/video-detail/clarence-trent-mix/4184504945:icon_mrgreen:
The ol' Home sick trend, now CA is a distance from UK.
I'll be at the Derby city Classic, I should expect to see some UK players and recruits there hopefully.

for those of you who are worried about us not signing anyone yet...
#1-galloway-flemmings-and harrelson can-not sign one because of their former loi that they previously signed
#2-the derby classic is this weekend where future cats get to sign with a little bit of a crowd/celebration
#3- this is still kentucky

Some guy on the radio tonight seemed to think Patillo would sign. He indicated that the coaching staff probably wanted this guy more than any other. I didn't catch the name, but it was on WVLK I think. Guy seemed to be accepted as an expert on Lexington sports. Did anybody else catch that?

Galloway signed to wildcats yesterday. Yes they can sign again.

The player can sign on his own accord. The school cannot force the LOI. That is my understanding.

Looks like they have changed the rule regarding signing a second LOI. Now the rules state "only one an academic year".

"Sign" by itself is vague. As my understanding goes, only one LOI can be signed. But there are other things a player can sign that are equally, if not more so, binding to the school than an LOI. Examples including scholarship, housing, and misc financial aid papers.

See my post above. From the NLI FAQ:
# Who signs a National Letter of Intent?
Generally, only prospective student-athletes enrolling in a four-year institution for the first time sign a National Letter of Intent. Student-athletes who start their academic career at a four-year institution and then transfer to a junior college may also sign a National Letter of Intent if they plan on entering a second four-year institution.
and
# If I sign a National Letter of Intent in the early signing period and later get a complete release, can I sign another NLI in the spring signing period?
No. NLI policy states a prospective student-athlete is only permitted to sign one valid NLI in an academic year. Therefore, if you sign a NLI during the early period and get a complete release by the institution or one of the NLI committees before the spring signing period ends, you are not permitted to sign a second NLI in the spring. You must wait until the next academic year to sign another valid National Letter of Intent.
note the phrase "one valid NLI in an academic year". and "wait until the next academic year".
