Here is a story. You may enjoy this capcat.
I had to go to AZ this past weekend to visit my brother and while we were spending some time in his living room talking, my sister Deanaeye's fell on a quilt that my mother made some years ago out of white linen and a blue fabric with a tiny evening starry look to it. The pattern is called Eva's delight and since that is my daughter's name, and the quilt was blue and white, my mother (who is now 90)wanted Eva to have it. Eva really was touched by that even though mother has made and given many quilts away to all of us, I do believe that was the only one that carried one of our names in the pattern's title.
Well Deana a few years ago put on a show of mothers quilts and ask if we would all bring our quilts to the show to be displayed. It seems that at the show Eva's delight got labeled accidentally to go back to Arizona. When Eva could not find the quilt among mother's things she asked about it and nobody knew what happened to it. Hey guys I admit I'm not the most aware person in the world because I had no idea just how much that particular quiltmeant to Eva and how much it hurt her to lose track of it.
Anyway when the discussiongot to mein my brother'sliving roomI actually did recognize what they were talking about and immediately called Eva on my speaker/cell phone. After the pleasantries had been exchanged I asked Eva if she could describe the quilt she had lost. She described the quilt before us and when we all told her that we were looking at it and that I would be bringing it home to her she starting crying over the phone. You girls are emotional animals I'll tell you.
Now here is the kicker that Eva doesn't know yet. Iwent toArizona to bury my brother's wife who had been fighting cancer for a few years. Gae used this quilt in her last days to wrap up in because she liked it so much. It is almost like some sort of design other than Eva's delight is at work here eh?
I rolled it up and placed it in some sort of colorful southwestern cloth satchel that Gae used to go to the gym with and bought a very petite turquoise necklace that looks very southwestern for Eva so that she can keep that connection in mind periodically.
