I don't see who the first pick was. All I know is that Joker got the first pick and said he would not pick between Hartline and Pulley, and made Steve Brown make the pick.

I am having a really tough time trying to decide which team I would bet on. I think that shows the degree of depth we have this year. We will actually be fielding two pretty darn good teams on Saturday. I would say that either one of these teams would be better than what we had a few years ago. And THAT is significant!

I think it's neat and kind of funny that the offensive coordinator drafted the three starting linebackers. Jeff Drummond is selecting Joker's team as the winner, mainly because of his having selected three starting offensive linemen. He admits that defensive coordinator Steve Brown's team has the interesting combination of Pulley and Moncell Allen, along with fullback John Connor, along with, arguably, the best two corners. It should be fun. I would LOVE to be there!

Being that this is an scrimmage RB will probably be observation mode. Without any coaching resposibilities he can see how everyone is performing. Just my thoughts.....

this is gonna be fun to watch. I'm predicting White to roll over Blue, though.

Why is Oninku not playing?:shrug1:

I am stoked about this team. The QB's, Wr's and Te's will continue to improve. We have coaches that will work them through the steep learning curve that is the defense. Did you ever think you would see this day several years back when defense was just an afterthought?

This sounds like a fun format, esp for the fans, and have a question...

Not being a former coach or X & O expert, would have naturally assumed in the final Spring game, the staff would have at least started out with the "first" team offense and defense against each other (based on the current, Spring depth charts). What does not doing so say?

Could it imply 1) the depth is so close at many positions it wouldn't matter, or 2) the coaches have seen enough of the "first" teams so far, and just want to mix it up looking for "surprise" contributers, or 3) there are so many out with injuries it doesn't matter, or 4) they recognize there might be a few freshmen impact players that could influence UL game rosters anyway, or 5) RB and staff just want to lighten this thing up via a unique, intramural challenge? Or, whatever other scenarios...?

Just curious...and as said, sounds fun!! Wish I could be there ("only" 4 1/2 months for College FB...)

I read somewhere that they are still holding Oninku out from last year's injury, Gunsmoke. He should be fully recovered by the fall, and I'n surely anxious to see him out on the field again.

Think they are just mixing it up a little to see if it works and its also more fan friendly. Have the 1's vs. the 2's really doesn't tell you alot. But having a mixture of 1's vs 1's can give the staff a little more grasp on where some players are.

And this game isn't the end all. The players have had all offseason and spring to prove theirselves, this is more of a fan friendly event.

Well I suppose Joker didn't pick Dicky L first in the draft since he is on the other team. In the paper last night they said Dicky was really lobbying to be the first pick.

Coach Brooks was quoted as saying this is the first year that they have had the depth in spring training to be able to have this type of game. Sounds like a fun time. I sure wish I could be there.

GO BIG BLUE!!!
