Gamecock QBs have 'a ways to go'

Chris Smelley and Tommy Beecher, the players battling for the starting spot, combined to throw eight interceptions.
"That's really not good," Beecher said, "but it's just one scrimmage."
Smelley threw five of them, all in the first half. Four came in the first quarter.
"I was thinking that I hadn't had five interceptions all spring practice," said Smelley, who started six games last year and won four. "It's definitely not a showing of what kind of spring I've had or what kind of quarterback I am."
