Here are two kinds of French Toast recipes

French Toast

Ingredients:
3 tsp. vanilla
1 ½ cup milk
6 beaten eggs
1/4 tsp. cinnamon & 1/4 tsp nutmeg
3 Tbsp. sugar

8 slices French bread (about 1 ½ inches thick / a day or two old works best)

Combine milk, eggs, and seasonings in a flat-bottom dish.

Place bread in mixture until it is absorbed.

Fry on a well-buttered griddle until browned on both sides and the slice springs back slightly when touched.

Serve with warm maple syrup and sprinkle with powdered sugar

Baked French Toast

16 oz loaf unsliced French bread (cubed with crusts on)(a few days old works best)
8 oz pkg cream cheese (cubed small)
8 eggs
2 1/2 cups milk, light cream or Half & Half
6 Tbsp melted butter
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 tsp cinnamon

Topping:

8 Tbsps unsalted butter, softened
1 cup light-brown sugar, firmly packed
2 Tbsps maple syrup or honey
1 cup broken pecan pieces

Grease a 13"x9" baking dish. Place half the bread cubes on the bottom, then the cubed cream cheese and the remaining bread cubes.
Beat together -- eggs, milk, melted butter, syrup
Pour egg mixture over all.
Press down bread so all is covered with egg mixture.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Prepare topping. Mix butter, sugar, and syrup in a bowl. Stir in pecans. Spread topping over bread. Sprinkle pecans evenly
Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes (will stay warm in oven for a few hours)
Serve with warm maple syrup.

I've made French toast before, but I'll have to make note of these recipes. FTR, I typically use regular bread because I typically don't keep French bread on hand, and it tastes fine. I bet the French bread is better, though.

Cinnamon is also really good on top of French toast.

For some that's really good try it 'stuffed' use regular bread because it's thinner than the french bread and after you put one slice on the griddle or in the pan then top with fruit or jelly maybe even with some cream cheese(think banana slices, strawberry jelly, etc, etc) then put a 2nd piece on top...the egg mixture you dipped the bread in will cook kinda like agrilled cheese does and hold the two slices together with the 'stuffing' in the middle.
