Anyone see us going with a LSU style using Hartline and Pulley like they used Flynn and Perriloux? What about when Florida used Leak and Tebow?

I don't see Joker doing the 2-QB system, but who knows. It would be such a waste of a great athlete to bench Pulley if Hartline wins the starting job, and vice versa.

I hope not. I don't like the 2 QB system because I think you become predictable. The only reason I could see using it would be to get the backup some game experience. I think when UF used it with Leak and Tebow, you knew Tebow was probably going to run the ball. It was hard to stop, but you knew it was coming. I think both of our guys are capable of running the offense, whether we are running the ball or passing.

Very good point on the predictability. But that raises the dilemma. If it's Pulley w/ Hartline as number two it all falls into place. If it's Hartline we all probably agree that that Pulley would be wasted on the sideline.

Perhaps Hartline's elevation to number one rides somewhat on Fidler becoming a reasonable backup so Pulley can move full time to an athlete position so he can get the carries that will make the offense more productive. I could see Pulley out at WR, in the slot and at tailback.

Good post, I agree completely.

All this talk about Pulley possibly moving to wr makes me wonder how well it would sit with Pulley. I know he played some wr his fr. season, but he knew he had little or no chance of being the starting qb. I think he now believes, with all his heart, he will be the starting qb this coming season plus he has said repeatedly qb is the only position he is interested in playing. Comments anyone?

IMO, it comes down to on-field leadership. Curtis made a TD run when it counted Saturday and he seemed to get better as the game progressed (thanks to Richard Lyons JR). That was noteworthy.

Hartline had more field presence and better instincts at this point. Remember that Mike was the backup QB last year, and played QB every week in practice. If Mike had been throwing to Richard, the blue team would have won easily. It is still early. We have a very desirable situation... two very good quarterbacks. :shrug1:

Given the choice of a) a 2 QB system or b) the idea of picking one for the job & switching to the other when the first doesn't perform well, I pick a) because b) has a high chance of creating dissention with the fans & most importantly on the team.

Net, for me, one needs to standout this Fall & then we stick with him or we do a). I have no reason to expect one will standout.

I find the idea that we don't need CP as QB either as #1, #2, or in a) above pretty far out. If he's #2 QB, perhaps he can be a 3D receiver.

I made this point in another thread, but i do not know which one, so i will try to make it again here:

Two years ago, CP beat out Woodson in the Spring. Now, we all know that Woodson worked very hard over the summer, won back the job and went out to be one of the great QBs in UK history.

In the meantime, CP got some valuable game experience as a back-up QB and a WR, took a year off and was named the Scout Team Player of the Year while growing as an athlete and as an individual.

Now, an older, wiser, stronger and more seasoned CP cannot decisively beat out Mike Hartline for the starting QB job. Has CP regressed? I do NOT think that is the case. I just think Hartline is THAT good, but, not good enough to decisievly beat out CP for the QB job.

The bottom line is that we have TWO very good QBs and a very interesting dilemma.

Also, I think UedK makes a very good point. IF Hartline were to win the job, I think CPs moving to WR depends a lot on the continued development of Will Fidler.

Now, in the end, for some reason, I just think CP will be the QB, or at least will be given the first chance to lose the job. But, nothing would surprise me at this point.

Its just all good.

Sounds like if Hartline wins the job fair and square, we'll see where Pulley's head and heart really are in the commitment department. If he balks at being the #2 QB and/or an entirely different position -- which would be a shame, I suppose we'll have our answer.

I personally am not going to worry about this issue until fall practice begins, because I don't see much of an edge either way right now. They both have assets and liabilities...

Good post. too, it's "all good" as long as fans don't pick a favorite in the race and become non-supportive of the other quarterback candidate. That is my only concern, as I've seen it happen in the past.

Otherwise, yes, it's really good, because we have TWO quarterbacks who can play. Now, let's get the wide receivers to catch the passes from whoever is the starting quarterback. :)
