Condolences to the family and especially to his grandson, Dave, who signed this past February to follow in Grandpa's steps and play for the Cats.
Jim
I sat in front of the Ulinski's for a few seasons at Commonwealth Stadium. They rarely missed a game and were a couple that gained all of our respect and admiration. Their affection for one another warmed a few cold Saturday football afternoons.
A heartwarming story. In my first season in those seats, after a couple of games. Mrs. Unliski very politely tapped me on the shoulder and with a sparkle in her eye pointed at Harry and then at his name and number on the stadium and very quietly said; "That's Harry".
Harry Ulinski helped lead his Cats to a national championship and a pro carrier for himself. Harry's name and number are on the Commonwealth Stadium ring of honor. May his grandson, David have the same success.
My prayers and condolences to the Ulinski family.

My prayers go out to Mr. Ulinki's family. My Dad had the pleasure of doing business with Harry while he was employed at Square D and Mr. Ulinski was with National Steel.

Harry is 10 years older than I, but I certainly remember him playing for the Cats. He was, and will always be, a credit to the University. I'm so happy his grandson, Dave, is following in his footsteps and will be playing for us soon. My condolences to the family.

My condolences to the Ulinski family. He sounds like he was a fine football player and an even better human being. I wish I could have seen those great UK teams from the 50's. It was the golden era for UK football.

Condolences go out from this corner, too. Also, when I had read this sad news, I immediately thought of how Mr. Ulinski would have loved to have seen his grandson playing for his Cats. Obviously, Dave would have loved for his grandfather to have seen him play, too. :icon_sad:
I had also thought of you, Ed. I had remembered your experience.
Again, my prayers go up for the family, especially grandson and future Cat Dave Ulinski.

I think it's wonderfull that he lived long enough to know that his grandson will be attending UK.

I remember the name from way back in the Bryant days when our Cats were known as a Baaaaaad bunch and Harry was one of the badest. Tough muthers who took it to the enemy---and could beat about anybody except those durned ugly orange Vols.

Ex-Redskins center, Pro Bowler, dies
by The Washington Post ("")
Ulinski served in the Army Air Forces during World War II, then signed with the University of Kentucky to play for Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant.
As a freshman he shared quarterbacking duties with future Hall of Famer George Blanda but was switched to center and linebacker as a sophomore.
When Ulinski got married after his junior year, Bryant yanked his scholarship, and Ulinski considered transferring to Eastern Kentucky University to play basketball. Bryant, with a number of older World War II veterans on the team, soon rescinded the marriage rule, and Ulinski stayed with football.
