Who will we get?

There was a thread on this a few weeks ago but a lot has changed since then. So, in your mind, what recruits do you think we will get?

There's absolutely no telling. But, I would guess Harrelson, McCoy, and Flemings, should he qualify.

Honestly....right now, I don't have the first clue.

One day and one report, and it sounds like Harrellson is on his way. The next day, sounds like he's going to St. Louis. While we all think Jasper is history....this delaying of the announcement is frustrating. Same with Williams. Majok SOUNDS like he's going to UCONN....but maybe he'll remember it differently, since that was before he came to Kentucky. And before they signed Okwandu, the 7'1" Nigerian. And then of course....we can't expect guys like McCoy and Sutton to sit around and ignore the Virginia and Indiana type offers forever.

So who do I think we'll get? Totally guessing....

All 6 would be great and add that to the three already that would be nine and two walk-ons. Quite an amazing feat with a total of four scholarships. The fact remains we still have only one scholarship to give. There's no miracles or jerrymandering in the wings. We just have to live with what we have, which is one remaining. Personally, I think if Williams is waffling on "maybe I go; maybe I don't" someone should make his mind up for him. I think the same is basically true of Jasper except Jasper is a quality player who would be the team leader next year. I hope Jasper stays, but if the feeling is that he won't then he should be invited to leave quickly.

I really think Gillispie knows what's going to happen. He's not after this many players just to give one ride. There's no way that happens.

I think you're right, Will. And the more I think about it....I'm actually beginning to think that Galloway was brought in to START next year. I think that Jasper is gone, and even if he isn't, I think that Galloway stands a really good chance of starting over Jasper. Both will be juniors and have the same amount of experience, and were rated very similarly out of high school. But Jasper is more of a half court player...and I think Gillispie wants an up tempo style and team next year. I've noticed that Harrellson moves pretty well for a guy his size....and he's recruiting Majok and Sutton, both of whom run the floor very well for big men. Add to that Paul McCoy, whose best asset may be his speed and quickness, along with the speed and athleticism of Liggins and Miller and possibly Flemings....and I see a plan by the coach to run more and be more athletic. That's why I don't necessarily see Jasper as the huge loss that some in these forums do. But then again...some are probably just being faithful because he's a current Kentucky player, and they're feeling the rejection and wanting to retain that which they know of rather than looking at the big picture and rolling the dice a bit.

Speaking of Flemings...I think he would be a big time get for the Cats. The more I hear about him, the more I'd like to see him in a Kentucky jersey next year. If Harrellson and Flemings both sign....I could see each of them in the starting lineup next year. Maybe something along the lines of Harrellson - C, Patterson - PF, Flemings - SF, Meeks - SG, Galloway - PG. With Stevenson, Miller, Liggins, Harris, McCoy, etc., etc. off the bench.

But I'd still like two big guys...and if Jasper leaves, we'll need McCoy. I'd like Flemings...and Williams should be leaving which will open up a scholarship for one big guy. I wonder if there would be any way possible, with the one available scholarship.....and even if Jasper and Williams leave, to find a way to offer a fourth scholarship???

Right now...with these guys like Kecman being offered from out of nowhere, while guys like Sutton haven't been...I think if I have voted I want to change my vote to "I DON'T HAVE A CLUE! Someone unknown at the present"......

He would probably come with with eather one, Sutton is dieing to play at UK and that means alot to me. We need McCoy to play the point because as much as I hate to say it DJ is most likely gone. Everyone has Patterson and Meeks as the only returning starters but I say wait and see how much Stevenson and Harris improve over the summer. As a side note Majok is my prise recruit. I would love to have him and McCoy. I see us being a lot deeper next year with a lot more scoring options with whoever BCG brings in. Its begining to be fun around here again and all the speculation is alot of fun.

Looks like Harrelson is a true inside player. 6'10", not extremely mobile from all accounts I've read.

Majok is a 4 judging by his size and build, but he's certainly got the potential if he cleans up parts of his game to play both the 3 and the 4.

Of course, you never know how the kids themselves look at it.
