Although I had already mentioned that UK's spring game will be discussed by Cats' Pause columnist Matt May on tonight's "Sports Nightly" call-in show, I decided a separate thread to catch folks' attention might be better. :) I suspect there are other football nuts like me who would not want to miss the show. :)

I surely hope some of you were able to listen to the show (and they're actually discussing next year's Liberty Bowl right now, which will be a Jan. 2 game this coming year as they are celebrating its fiftieth anniversary). I certainly enjoyed it. :) I had been momentarily scared at the first of the show when they had mentioned "minutes" with Matt May about football, BUT most of the two hours has been about UK football and its players, thankfully. Thanks to Dick Gabriel and WLAP.

Something UK fans might like to hear if they missed the show is that Keenan Burton worked hard with incoming wideout Aaron Boyd in the Nutter Center today (as Aaron, a high school senior, was out of school because of testing of the underclassmen), teaching him as much as possible. KUDOS to Keenan for that.

During the show, tapes were played of Coach Brooks' comments about the team, along with interviews with Keenan and Jacob Tamme. Jacob's was particularly impressive. What humility that young man has! Also, some male member might want to share Jacob's humorous story about the Senior Bowl. :icon_lol:

Something I also enjoyed was an interview with a former UK linebacker who had actually transferred to Rhode Island a year or two after Billy Jack. His first name is Miguel, but I missed his last name (although the name and situation sounded familiar). Now the father of a four-year-old, he has written a book for students' arriving on campus and dealing with their newfound freedom. Did he ever make some good points! His advice is about life's being too short to make mistakes and not learn from others' mistakes. He also noted the importance of being a leader, not a follower, adding the reminder that "friends" often disappear, and one is left with himself or herself. He was impressive and will be signing his books in May.

Again, I surely enjoyed the show (and even got to hear a little interview with Ramel Bradley at the end). I hope it was the same for some of you. :)

Thanks for the report, poodoo! I heard some of it, including Keenan's interview. I remember thinking he sounded more mature than your average 22 year-old.
