View Full Version : Anybody else find it curious about Green Bay's Draft?

First, they took Brohm early, then took a SECOND qb later in LSU's Matt Flynn?
BB better watch his back, because Flynn may not be a better QB, but he knows how to flat-out win.

As a HUGE Packer fan I watched TT's draft pretty closely. I'm a little surprised, but the Pack definitely needs depth at QB. But hey - like you say - Flynn flat out knows how to win and he's a tough guy. For the position, I like the pick. I think Brohm was an absolute steal at 56.
Two WRs were somewhat of a surprise and thought they'd go after some DBs to shore up an aging defensive backfield.
But hey - Ted seems to know what he's doing. I sure didn't argue with 13-3 last year!

I still question BB's quickness and athletism to be a NFL QB, but he is far better than Flynn IMO. Flynn looked aweful when we beat LSU last year and with all the talent he had around him, he should have won.

I heard ESPN's take on that...and I kind of agree. They said it COULD have been a bit of a "not so subliminal" message to Brett Favre saying "HEY...if you are even THINKING of coming our of retirement.....DON'T!!!" :icon_lol:

That may be true, but if it is, it is IDIOTIC. While I think that Favre retiring might help the franchise move forward, he is a better QB NOW than the other three combined.

Personally I doubt the premise that the Packers want to Brett to stay retired because they drafted two unproven rookies. I think one more year from Farve would provide somewhat of a learning curve for the two rookies.

Agreed. With Favre gone, they have NO depth at quarterback. They've talked to a couple of "re-treads", but apparently feel the draft was the way to go. I agree.
While I think it's time for Favre to move on (although I did want ONE more year out of him) - Green Bay could not possibly want to handle the public opinion onslaught should Favre want to return and they refuse. He's a hero - make that god - in Green Bay. And if you think we Kentucky fans idolize our past sports heroes - man, you ain't seen NOTHIN' like those people.
