Four UK Players Go On Day Two Of NFL Draft

by WPSD-TV

Four players chosen marks the most Wildcats selected since 1989, when David Johnson, Ivy Joe Hunter, Chris Chenault, and Charlie Darrington were picked. The draft was longer then, as Chenault and Darrington were taken in the 8th and 9th rounds, respectively. The last time Kentucky had four draft picks in the first seven rounds was 1979, when a total of eight Cats were taken, five of whom went in the first seven rounds.

That makes me feel better about it. One of my favorite players was a different David Johnson. He just didn't want to play NFL ball after his broken eyesocket I think. Or else he could have. Thanks for the reminder.

I am down here in Florida hearing all the crying from the Gator fans because their team only had 2 drafted and UK didn't deserve to have more than them drafted.

Oh, yes, me, too, johnkyblue. Too, I still remember seeing David get that injury. :icon_sad: Wasn't it during a Louisville game?

Thanks for the link, Brian. Too, yes, we might as well say that it's the best draft, number-wise, for Kentucky players since 1979. Further, Wesley SHOULD have been taken, and Rafael likely WOULD have been taken if not injured in the Senior Bowl. That would have made six Cats taken in seven rounds. :)

Correct. Happened during the 1998 UL game, IIRC.

yeah, and it was something like the first or second snap on defense.

Oh, yes. Too, it was down on our end of the field, near the Cats' sideline. I can still "see" David going down. :icon_sad:
