From the Montgomery Advertiser:

Alabama junior Alonzo Gee became the latest Crimson Tide basketball player to apply for early entry in the National Basketball Association draft, joining teammates Ronald Steele and Richard Hendrix.

Sunday was the deadline to apply for early entry. Players wishing to renounce their remaining eligibility had to have the letter into the NBA office by April 27. They have until 4 p.m. on June 16 to apply in writing to withdraw their name from consideration from the June 26 draft.

They may rejoin the college ranks as long as they have not forfeited their eligibility by signing with an agent. Neither Hendrix nor Steele signed with an agent and Gee is not expected to, either.

"Alonzo came to me and expressed his desire to explore the process," Alabama coach Mark Gottfried said, "and I will assist him in any way possible."

Guess he might as well as a junior. Too bad; if he went to a non-Gottfried coached team, he might actually be drafted. The kid has definite NBA potential.

With all that has happened lately with players leaving or getting kicked off their teams who do you think will be the 4 best teams in the SEC next season? In what order?

My guess for first half of season.

Arkansas
Florida
UK
Georgia

Second half

UK
Arkansas
Florida
Georgia

UT, IMO, has lost too much now to be in consideration for the top 4 next season.

I'm really not sure what to think about Florida. They're loaded with high-level recruits, but they seem to resemble some of the old Florida teams: talent, lacking athleticism, lacking toughness. I think the ceiling might be kind of low for them.

I think Gee has NBA potential, but I don't think he would be drafted at this point. My guess is he'll be back at Bama next season.
