Ten more to watch
UNLV
Ohio State
Davidson
Virginia Tech
San Diego
Baylor
Syracuse
BYU
Saint Mary's
Kentucky

gee, uh, thanks....i think

these polls are a joke....these guys have LESS to do in the off season than we UK fans do posting on here....the only difference - they're on the payroll...they get paid for this BS!

the top 20 is always the same the obvious UNC, duke, uconn, mich state....the biggies...with a just under elite and a few mid majors thrown in for the "george mason factor"

These pre-season polls are all junk, but this may be the worst of the worst IMO.....

Why would Uk be anything above a team to watch? We lost to some bad teams this past season and lost half our scoring. Of course us UK fans have disected whats going on and think we have these holes filled with the new recruits. Truth is we might but we still have alot to prove. Until we have a good year and stop losing to midmajors and getting punished by conference USA teams dont take it personal when we arent picked top ten.

nothing you said changes the fact that these preseason polls IN MAY(!!!!!!!!!!) are completely bogus and obligitory.....it doesn't take a college degree in journalism to put
UNC, duke, uconn, mich state, ucla, tenn. and Louisville in the top 10....it's got nothing to do with Kentucky being at the bottom of the list....quite literally....even though that sucks and very soon it will change...

I get your point but we talk about basketball in May. Most teams are done with recruiting so its not beyond the realm of possibility that someone can put together a poll this early. I do agree that UK is on the rise tho.

you raise a good point....but i just think these kinds of polls smack of tunnel vision...like i said before, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to put the elites in the top 10....pepper the just under elite teams in the next 15 and put in a mid major here and there just to make it look like you really pay attention to those teams, stick in the team that just won the NC, put a few elites low enough so that you're not just "giving" them the position....that's what these kinds of polls say to me....they just seem really calculated to a fault IMO....but that's life....whaddaya gonna do?

I don't have a problem with UK being listed as a "team on the rise". This is (as has already been pointed out) just a pre-season poll and just one of many opinions on the subject. The ones I have a problem with are Duke at #4 and Louisville at #5. Yeah, they are two of the teams we love to hate and all that, but really, I just don't see them starting the season that high. I think the Dookies ought to be no higher than #7 and Louisville shouldn't be any higher than # 13. My reasoning may sound simplistic, but frankly, the Blue Devils haven't played at the level we've come to expect for about two seasons now, and with all the personnel losses with graduation and the NBA defections (or attempted defections, as it were) I just don't see the Cardinals doing all that much. The Card fans will accuse me of being biased, but there it is.

BINGO!! Well said!!

The only glaring faux pas I saw in this guy's poll is the way he talks about Duke Crews and Ramar Smith needing to step up for Tennessee (should we bother to inform him that both were recently kicked off the team?). Other than that I don't see that he went out on too much of a limb with any of his picks, and I'll bet most of the preseason polls published from now until late October will look eerily similar...

Man, is that ever the truth. Definitely the most agenda driven of the major media.

[self-edited] No, it's probably best I leave this one for another thread or another forum. It would just take away from the intent of the thread.

Heck, I'll say it for you BigBlue...the only reason Fox seems so far Right is because all of the other networks are so far Left! Singling out Fox as being "Agenda-driven" is as bad a case of "can't see the forest for the trees" as I've ever seen. Of course if you think there's nothing else newsworthy going on in the world and are content to watch 30 minutes of Bush/Republican-bashing on the Networks news every night, it's certainly your free choice. But I digress....back to basketball....
