I know there is a lot of speculation....but here is this bit of info

He has removed any association with UK from his facebook

and his status now reads that he is "in his cherry red chucks, Anaheim fitted".........I have no idea what this means...

I'm prepared for a bashing, but...I'm not too happy with the way derrick has handled this. If you're going say so and be on with it. It has hurt us recruiting wise no doubt. Feasably, he could wait until august to announce right before classes start back up.

this is a major decision for him. I think it's foolish to just hate on the kid without knowing what's going on in his life or what he's feeling. Not something you just make rash-decisions about. We gave crap to Azebuike and Morris when they made quick decisions and called them "rash", but now we hate on Jasper for actually taking his time to make the best decision possible?

He's trying to decide his future. His first responsibility is to himself, and to do what's right for his situation. His future should not revolve around basketball recruiting.

Either he already knows what he's doing, and BCG knows as well...

or he needs a little time away from campus to be with his family and make a good, sound decision on his future.

I think he's been trying to "say so" for about a month, but the "Big Blue Spin Machine" refuses to listen... I think he's gone home to stay!

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that the person (BG) who needs to know what Jasper's decision will be, already knows. And because he already knows, it hasn't hurt his recruiting one bit. Pure speculation on my part, but in no way can I see Jasper keeping BG in the dark like we are. There's just no way they haven't agreed on how to handle this transfer (if he's going to transfer). This is just one ignorant fan's opinion.

It does make you question the McCoy situation, however. SMU is no UK. Even though Matt Dougherty is a great recruiter (see: May, Felton, McCants at UNC), SMU is a hoops wasteland. BCG shouldn't lose a recruit to SMU- ever.

Unless he really doesn't want that player. Maybe BCG pulled back thinking Jasper was staying?
Or, maybe McCoy got the run around because BCG didn't know what Jasper was going to do? IMHO you plan for the worst and keep recruiting pg's. But in the end Jasper is going to do what's best for him, and that might not be best for UK. Stuff happens. I hope he stays but won't be surprised if he leaves.

Because he is a young man who carried himself with class and distinction when he wore Kentucky blue and because he played his butt off on one leg and is as responsible for saving Gillispie's first season from being a complete bust as anyone. If Jasper never suits up the past year we could have likely had a losing season.

Derrick is homesick...this isn't about playing time, coaching conflict, or hating the University of Kentucky. It's about a kid who misses his family. He's a good kid and I hope the best for him in every game he plays in unless it's against the Cats. He earned his respect.

If you don't care about him, why bother to post?

The kid is doing exactly what he should be doing if he is really considering leaving. He is staying focused on classes and grades. After Finals, he can then sit down and look at his options clearly. Right now, doing well in school is his first priority.

he was one of my fav players, if he wants to play close to home good for him, but as long as im a k-fund member i will only support players who wear the blue and white

Why are we depending on a facebook account for these answers? Why dont we just wait and see what he says

Because that would be logical and leaves us with little to nothing to talk about. :icon_rolleyes:

I agree with you by the way.

Could it not be someone else that has done his page for him and are just doing this?

I guesss we'll find out one way or the other, but it does give folks something to speculate on and keeps the message board active...... Surprised there haven't been tons of threads with speculation on Liggins' eligibility outlook.

Alot of people have assumed he is going to make it. Look at the threads containing line-ups, very few mention his eligiblity.

If Liggins doesnt cut it and Jasper is indeed staying home, we could be in a tight spot.

:thumbup:, CatsSaintsFan. Too, from everything I've read, Derrick has been leaning STRONGLY to transferring. It is Coach who is seemingly pleading with him to stay, letting him have all the time he wants before making it official. Derrick has seemingly earned just that.

So it surely seems that Coach is hoping Derrick decides to remain a Cat. I happen to hope the same. It matters not what any of us fans think, though. It's up to Coach, who has CHOSEN to give Derrick all the time he needs.

Reading between the lines, I certainly think Derrick has already transferred IF Coach had not encouraged him to go home and think about his decision, along with his family. IF he transfers, we will have another scholly available for '09, a year for which we currently have none to offer. So recruiting should NOT suffer.
