Thanks for sharing those standings, jh4uk. I had heard on the radio broadcast that we had clinched a bid, but someone else had acted unsure, and I wanted to SEE that it was definitely true. :icon_biggrin: Also, if we win today, we are assured of the #3 seed. From what I heard, the #2 will automatically go to the West's winner, same as in basketball.

I suspect you were there for both games. :thumbup::thumbup: to you for that AND for the Cats for clinching, of course. Too, I so wish I could be there for all of them. WAY TO GO, Bat Cats!

P.S. They are now talking to last night's winning pitcher James Paxton about his outstanding complete game performance AND the Cats' clinching a bid.

Due partly to three errors today, the Cats are trailing 5-4 at the stretch. Too, yes, if the Cats rally to win in these three remaining innings, they clinch that #3 seed. Price thinks they can only fall to fifth place if they lose. Come on, Bat Cats!!!

Bottom of the eighth, Brian Spear just tied the game with a homer. :big_grin: Let's keep our fingers crossed. :big_grin:

Update: strikeout from Scott Green for the third out. It's now the bottom of the ninth.

Unfortunately, it's now the tenth. We left the potential game-winning run on third base, twice, actually, since there had been only one out. Their shortstop leaped to catch McClendon's line drive.

Again, we stranded the potential winning run, this time at second base and again with two chances to get him to cross the plate.

Unfortunately, Ole Miss went up by two in the top of the eleventh, runs scored with a hit batter and a walked batter (bases loaded). Two additional relievers did not come through for the Cats. It's now up to the batters.

It's over, 7-5 in favor of Ole Miss. Errors, relief pitching, and leaving runners on base were all costly. Kentucky will actually be the fourth seed, though, because of tie-breakers. A third seed would have been nice, but the Cats did win the series. Good luck to the Bat Cats in the SEC Tourney.
