A year ago, they were left at home.
No SEC Tournament.
No NCAA Tournament.
This year, they can pack their bags.
Kentucky saw to that last night. With a vengeance. James Paxton pitched the deepest and best game of his life, nine innings, no runs allowed.
Already up two runs, the Cats put a five-spot on the board in the fourth inning. Sawyer Carroll hit his 16th homer of the year. They added a couple of more late.
Cats 9, Rebels 0.
Better yet, before a crowd of 2,929, the win improved Kentucky to 16-13 in the SEC, clinching a spot in the conference tournament next week in Hoover, Ala. That's the same tournament the Cats did not make a year ago. Missed it by a sliver. And that was a year after John Cohen's Cats had been crowned the regular-season SEC champs.
Now they're back.
