I can only visit the boarda few minutes today, but I wanted topost and ask how many of you are guilty of something of which I am guilty. :)Any time UK narrowly loses a reallyimportant game, I tend to wake up thinking about it during the night. Naturally, I did so a lot last night. :(

I try hard to keep sports in the proper perspective. I know it's only a GAME. However, I still cannot help but be "down" for those guys after the effort they put out, being quite outmatched, and especially for Patrick and Bobby, who seemed to take their game to another level as they refused to lose. This one really hurt, especially since one good break, instead of a bad break, could have made the difference.

Again, I know it's wrong to take a loss this hard and to continue to think about the little things that could have gone differently, including that rebound that Morris had in his hands and then lost and subsequently fouled out, leaving no big man in there to rebound when we so needed it. Anyway, I confess that I'm guilty. How about the rest of you?

It is especially tough NOT to do when it was a game like this one, where each and every possession (and official's call) counted to the end result. There are tons of little things that made a difference, but that occurs on both sides of the ball.

Still extremely proud of our Wildcats for this effort!

It only took me two weeks to stop waking up to the vision of Laettner's bulljive shot ...

I haven't exorcized that demon, yet. Of course, the fact that it happened on my birthday may have something to do with it.:(

I find it hard to go to sleep after tough losses. I just toss and turn thinking about all the plays we made or missed. Once I get sleep, I'm up bright and early the next morning going over the game again in my head. I have a hard time dealing with it.

I laid there thinking of the game last night. I awoke several time thinking of it as well.

I don't think it was a good night of sleep at all.

It helps if you remember these are 18-22 year old kids, they don't work for you ,or pay yourmortgage,or your car payments and neither does the team they play for. They are playing a game, a game that entertains us and upsets us sometimes, but entertainment none the less.

I knew a bad night was coming so I took a sleep aid last night before bed. Slept well. :D

Naw, I'm more settled than that, poodoo. I din't wake up thinking about the Cats. Now I didn't go to sleep at all until after 4:00 am and replayed some plays adozen times in my mind while I lay there, but.....

Well, on the bright side, I didn't have to get up and go to work this morning.

You are funny. I'm afraid I will wake up and see a crater in my bed fearing I will fall in it. Also I' afraid my cat will be much bigger than I am.

Used to do what you're saying when I was younger, but age (I'm 48) has had a mellowing affect on me regarding UK bball. I still get excited during the event, but don't really dwell on it afterward. Then again, if we were in the final four.......... yeh, I'd probably dwell on it.

By dinner last night, I was completely over it and settled down in front of the TV to watch a movie with my wife (who HATES basketball, btw, even though she's a UK grad also).

I just had a lot of visions of Patrick Sparks playing his last game as a Wildcat, which hurts a whole lot. It's always tough after a loss, and I always have flashbacks periodically for a few days after a tourney exit. It'll eventually be alright, though.

The UK loss to UCONN didn't really bother me at all. Normally, it's tough for me when the Cats lose in the NCAA Tournament but this year not have much expectations for this year, I was happy. I was very glad to see that UK did NOT get blown by UCONN. And I was happy to see UK get a win over UAB, a team that I cannot stand at all since we got beat by them a few years ago.

I had trouble sleeping last night, too, just kind of trying to will the mistakes at the end not to have happened. The worst ever for me was as a kid after the St John's game. I remember thinking that if I really tried hard enough, I'd wake up and it would just be a bad dream.

I still want to stomp on his chest to this day..........He should never have been in the game to make that shot.............:dmad:

But the Georgetown game was the hardest to stomach.......

Larry, so sorry about your birthday present. :( I hope you found a way to have some fun yesterday just the same.

My coping mechanism was rewatching the 1998 Duke vs. Kentucky game. That's a pretty good remedy for what ailed me. The emotions I feel watching that game, laughing at Wojo fakingMagloire holding his arm, well, it's good medicine.Watching a team do the nearly impossible is also something to do that keeps us believing in the program andfinding hope fornext season. :)

CC, that play by Wojo went a long way toward getting him a permanent seat on Coach K's bench. Just shows the kind of people Mr Clean wants around him.

????

It's those veryKIDS that I feel for, rickdacatkilla, especially Patrick and the other seniors who were especially disappointed. It's certainly more than "entertainment" for them, and that is why I so hated that they were not rewarded with a victory. My heart breaks for THOSE KIDS. Too, as someone else posted, it hurts so much more when it is ONE possession (call, missedrebound, or whatever)that makes the difference in such an important game.

No, though, this game does not approach that loss to Duke in '92. I kept thinking of that one for such a long time that I REALLY felt guilty. That team was made up of a bunch of over-achievers who played with so much heart, and thinking we had probably made it to the Final Four with SeanWoods' shot made it that much harder, too. Like others, I still cannot stand to watch the replay of Laettner's shot today.

Thanks for the responses, guys and gals. :)

Oh yes, poodoo. Ihave trouble sleeping for two or three nights. The loss is the last thing I think about before I go to sleep and the first I think about the next morning.

Because I really didn't expect a win, though, and becaue this particular team wasn't one of my favorites, this loss didn't hurt as much as some losses have in the past. It hurt, but it wasn't excruciating.

The loss to UAB in 2004 was very tough to take because I loved that team.

And the loss in 1999, to Michigan State, was notso much toughas it was...bizarre. At that point I remember feeling entitled to a Final Four. I remember standing outside, after the game had ended, just wondering how in the world that could have happened.
